Death of Jim Coll

I have just learned of the passing of Jim Coll. Bub Reese has told me that Jim has lost his long battle with Cancer and that he left us this past weekend. Jim was an inspiration to many of us in Stunt as well as Combat. He enjoyed an association with the Flite Streaks of Baltimore as well as the SlOW Club of Washington, DC. Jim had endured extensive surgery to rid himself of the ravages of his sickness and still maintained an upbeat attitude which many of us found inspirational. Jim was an intense competitor  as well as a master builder. He will be missed by many of us in the Control Line Community. Jim always had a kind word for any of us in his acquaintance.

There will be a gathering of friends at the Zion Church on Locust Street in Cambridge, MD at Noon on Saturday March 31, 2008 at 12:00 Noon, to be followed by a Memorial Service at the Church in Jim's honor. His dear wife Ann would love to see as many of you as may be able to gather at the church this Saturday.

My condolences to the family and this group.
I did not know him myself but I understand what he meant to us as a group and supporter of our hobby and of course I understand the family loss as well. I know Jim will be missed.

I remember Jim because that "Son of a Gun" always beat me by a couple of points at Brodak.

I will miss him as a competitor and fellow model builder.  My condolences to his wife and family.

Now that I see the picture it is the same one I met at VSC a few years ago.  Quite a gentleman and competitor.  Was hoping to see him again, but, in time we will.  DOC Holliday
