Title: Baby Ringmaster throw and other things

Good evening.

I just finished a baby Ringmaster from Brodak. Just one question: how much throw must the elevator have?

My mother saw the finished plane and referred to it as "the overgrown butterfly." Thinking about it, it does look like a giant butterfly, given the shape of the wings and tail.

It's not a critical thing for your little bird.  15 degrees would be enough but a little more is fine.  More than 30 would not be used or useful.

Plus or minus 15 degrees, that is.  It should be a delight to fly.

A butterfly decal would be really cool on that plane. Check out CFC graphics in the vendors corner. I had these made for my better half. One is like a black stencil, the other is a multi layered vinyl decal. The multi colored one is going on her box car chief. I had a bunch made and stuck one on my wife's truck window. Charles is the guy, ask him if he still has the art for this loaded.

Anything beyond 25 degrees either way only acts as an air brake.

Thanks for the replies. I just maidened the plane at Whittier Narrows. It was very gusty but I decided to brave the weather.

At first it was a very wild ride, with the plane really feeling the effects of the strong winds. It really was an adventure to keep the plane flying level, but I landed in one piece after the 3 minutes that were set on the timer.

With that wind, no stunts were attempted.

I think I must use a smaller spacer in the Renger handle to tone down the sensitivity.

The leadouts are where the plans state, so is the CG.
