« on: November 17, 2013, 01:51:42 PM »
I thought this would be a good time to share a picture by our resident artist, Mike Keville.  This print, # 1 and signed by the artist, is dated 1994 !

Yes, it took that long for me to buy a frame and put it on my wall, where it belongs!

   Well Chuck, you have been around long enough to know that Mike Keville is a very talented and gifted artist. His work has graced these pages many times, and have been on the cover of Stunt News many times, and even was the subject of a whole calendar at one time, I believe. And as you say, do your homework, the airplane depicted is a Bob Palmer Venus OTS model, of which Floyd built a very nice model and has had it at VSC several times. I think I was there in '94 when Mike presented the art work to him???  The Venus was published in October 1952 Flying Models. Bob Palmer was a long time employee of Lockheed and may have been influenced by the Sirius or maybe might even have done some work on it. I remember a speech by Mr. Palmer at the VSC one year where he said he did the wind tunnel models for everything from the P-38 through the F-117 Stealth Fighter. Quite a career!   Charles Lindbergh and his wife Anne Morrow Lindbergh charted the overseas routes for Pan-Am I believe it was, using the Sirius, which was on floats and resides in the Smithsonian today.

The picture by Mike Keville is of the Bob Palmer semiscale Venus published in Flying Models, Oct 52.  It is a good flying OTS model.

Thanks to Floyd for sharing it with us.

Mike is a recognized artist of full scale aviation and has been invited to several aviation art shows.

No, and my name isn't Chuck, I don't see you mentioning that to Dan, yes, the bully.

You too.

I have a website that gets many many hits. Why don't I just place your name and all other 50 or so bullies I had to deal with for well over four years.

How would you like that.

Try me!
     Well Chuck, I would challenge anyone to find anything in my post that was remotely close to bullying. I thought I was rather informative and educational and not threatening at all, which by definition is what bullying is. And everyone I know named "Charles" I call "Chuck" for short. I think it's less airy and arrogant, more down to earth. And you can put my name any where you want, just make sure you spell it correctly. If I was bullying you, I would have made a big deal out of you misspelling "famous" and "Lindbergh". My name is well known, so I just want to make sure you get it correct.
   And "Type at you later" is my sign of line. I invented it.

  Hey Mike;
  Was I correct about the calendar? I don't think I got in on that one but it had some neat stuff in it. I think the painting that you resented Sean, "Urban Renewal" is VERY COOL and kind of prophetic I think, since he has gone on to operate Predators. My brother Ted has a talent for sketch art and painting that he has never really taken to it's fullest potential. I've seen him take a plain old Bic stick pen, and copy a Davinci sketch and you can't tell the difference. Please post up pictures of anything else you do.

Looks to me as if Charles was telling Marcus what a handsome guy he is.  I concur, now for some praise to the One who designed that face!  (And the great personality behind it.)
All the art presented here makes my mouth water and my heart desire to be able to do that sort of art.  Nothing is prettier than a stunt wing with art on it like I've seen a few times at the nats by Jim Morway.  He was like Mike and Charles with his talents.

Although something of a joke, this is probably one of the most popular ones.  It was even offered on a T-shirt several years ago....a spoof on "The Scream", with an Argus narrowly missing the little guy.

Can you please Post other images of your art work.

I have a great deal of interest in art. Especially art by other Aviation artists.

Oh, okay, I got it now.  Yes, that F/F was a 'Convertible', built & flown by a Tucson modeler, the late Roland Lovejoy.  The 16x20 acrylic painting was based on a photo which had appeared on the NFFS website (copied with the webmaster's permission), and was done in 2005.

The original was later presented to Roland's widow, Debbie, who was very appreciative.

  Hey Randy;
   And if you just have to build one, I think Peck-Polymers still does a kit. Somewhere along the line S.A.M. had a commercial class for outdoor free flight, and the kit was in answer to the demand for the, if I remember correctly. Very nice rendition of a classic free flight model.

  Hey Randy;
   And if you just have to build one, I think Peck-Polymers still does a kit. Somewhere along the line S.A.M. had a commercial class for outdoor free flight, and the kit was in answer to the demand for the, if I remember correctly. Very nice rendition of a classic free flight model.
   Type at you later,

Thanks Dan, no Convertible for me, I have been flying Frank Heeb's Wren for Commercial rubber. The Convertible would be a fairly good alternate I think.
