Does anyone out there have experience with any of the Avistar line of engines? Do they share the same mounting pattern and length with each other, or any other engines, also how do they run?
-
check the engines forum - there is a lengthy discussion on them there...
There are a couple of guys over here checking them out - apparantly the 53 is Ok but the 61 they cannot get to run properly - seems to be the same from what I have read elsewhere

The 36 is a direct drop in for a Saito 40 and I think the mounting holes are the same as a Brodak 40.

I have an Avistar .61. It would not run as stock from the factory. I put in an O ring to seal the venturi and noticed that the Needle Valve had very few threads so I added a Stalker NVA. Seems to run well on the bench now.
I think the main issue was the venturi not having an O ring and it was leaking air. For a very little hastle it could be
a good engine. You can use several other mufflers as the stock one is heavy. Any muffler that will fit a Super Tiger
.46 will work on the Avistar .61. Any Super Tiger NVA would work fine also. This is a Brodak Avistar engine.

As was mentioned in the other thread, and othe rplaces this engine is discussed, It would be very relevant to disclose the origon of The particular Aviastar engine being discussed. As I have seen the engines have been around a long while. My understanding is that Brodak is offering engines that are altered for stunt, the others are not

The .61 that I spoke about previously is from Brodak. C/l version.
