Did anyone get their Autothegyro to fly?
-
Sure, Cox even made a RTF plastic version of th Cobra.
-
Look on the Ringmasters Flying Club New Orleans website there is a video. Allan Perret and Mike Griffin both had flights.

Hi Mike,
Yes both ALLAN and I both built and flew our Otto the Giros just recently and they fly surprisingly well. As John Blanchard previously mentioned, you can see videos of them flying at ringmastersflyingclub.com.
Kindest regards
Mike Griffin

We watched Mike fly his. It was - uh - exciting.

Mike,
Make sure your balance is in front of the rotor, and the blade turns to give lift to the pilot side of the circle, but properly setup and trimmed autogyros fly very well.

while they fly well, the one I have had and seen have mishaps during landing and take off.
They are tricky to land without problems.

Well Randy, it was flying just great until the rotor blade departed the fuselage. They do not glide very well. Other than that, they are a lot of fun.

Haha I bet he was, but it ain't looking quite so agile these days. Just a little wear and tear.

Mine is finished - sans bellcrank, pushrod, elevator horn, elevator hinges, fuel tank and a collar for the rotor hub. I brought it out to our public demo at a full-scale airshow where it sat and made like a whirlygig lawn ornament. The wind got strong enough on Sunday that the rotor flew off the spindle on it's own a couple of times.
Now if I could only remember where I put my Roberts bellcrank and handle 20 years ago. The stab/elevator wood was pretty hard. Had I not had one of those Great Planes electric slot cutting tools I'd never gotten through it.
Tower .40 RC will power it.

My friend got his fly.
Has an Enya 29 for power. It lept into the air after a surprisingly short take off run.
It's included in the video I posted to YouTube recently.
