Title: Auto-gyros...
Post by: Scott Richlen on July 01, 2022, 12:31:34 PM
Anyone ever design a stunting auto-gyro?  Seems like an impossibility, but thought I'd ask.

I've heard of one doing a loop.

Who did it?  What design?  (and multiple questions after that....)

Dick Mathis' Otto the Gyro will loop.    Takes LOT of power.   maintain a positive rate of turn.
Back in the day, lops were a regular part of the demonstration routine  for the Pitcairn gyro...

Thanks Jim!  I wonder how many times he had to repair it before experiencing success?

A few years back, I produced a kit of Dick Mathis's Otto the Gyro.  Allen Perret was still alive back then and helped me develop the rotor hub for the kit.  He and I took the prototypes of the Gyro out and we looped them.  This was all of the stunt capability they had.  They were a blast to fly though.  I had a .25 on mine and Allen had a .40.
I sold more of this kit than any other kit I ever produced.

Does anyone here have a built autogyro for sale?

Please send me a PM if you do.
