Tony   Thanks for posting that. There sure was a lot to get a Cony in the air.
I listened to Arther for many years as I was on the road every day. Met him at Cornell U in Ithaca NY around 1965.
He was  doing a show from Clark Hall and I met him after the show. I found him to be a very friendly person and easy to talk to. I was at Cornell at least two times a week and I made sure I was there that day.

Thank you. It was a great video.I knew he flew. Was suprised at what he really was licensed to fly. Use to watch his talent shows back in the day.

I dont think young people today even know who he was but I remember watching him on TV.  I knew he flew but did not know to this extent.  We have lost so many ICONS from back in that era and I dont see many today worthy of replacing them.

Very interesting video, thanks for posting it.

A few interesting things jump out :

- After the takeoff he takes a smoke break :), and gives the copilot a funny look when he says he doesn't smoke.

- The guy with the fire extinguisher at the ready as they start each motor.

- ATC done by chalkboard!

- When they talk about the whole "helicopters to the airport thing" - cool idea but never did happen.
Getting to the airport still sucks, but now there is the whole security screening on top that eats up a huge chunk of time once you arrive.

Thanks for the video of the ole Redhead.  Grandma never missed a show when he was on the TV.  It was Channel 4, the only station in KC at that time.  He was a great personality that had clean shows. H^^

Type in, "James Stuart/Arthur Godfrey At International Aeroclassic Airshow Palm Springs California 51074" on YouTube. Skip to 47:30 for a brief appearance by Steve Wooley and his Argus. Couldn't reduce the file to post it here.
