Possible future project

HI All,

Always thinking about what I want to fly somewhere down the road.  Of course, I will be living in the year 2207 since it will take me that long to build all the planes I really want to have!

But, the project.......  what are y'alls thoughts as to building Tom Warden's Trophy Trainer as a Profile/Classic/Advanced level entry?  A triple threat so to speak.  Would cut way down on the change over process and ease transportation issues!

It would indeed do all the above. I can't see any reason not to unless your real serious about winning in advanced or above classes.

Another good tripler threat design is Dick Mathis's first Excalibur.

I think it would work great Bill. I use my Magician for those three events. When I go to contests, I just take two planes. The Magician, and an old time. That way I have plenty of room for all the stuff my wife wants to bring.

HI Bill. My thoughts exactly. In fact I have a Trophy Trainer on the paint stand, waiting for warmer, drier weather, and one ready for the wing to be covered.  One more kit and four more partial kits waiting form me to cut the rest of the parts out. Two of the kits are from Walter Umland along with five sets of ribs and special cut parts.  All laser cut.

TY!  What on earth are you going to do with 6 Trophy Trainers??

I just picked up my Umland TT Kit from the post office yesterday.  Its been there for two weeks, but I haven't been able to get there ...

What a treat.  Laser cutting is perfect.  And the way Walt packed the boxes, the wood is laser straight.  Its almost too nice to build, but I will get over it....

I don't think the old Max-S 35 with a muffler is the right engine for this ship.  But, I think an FP 35 or 40, or LA 40 or 46 is the ticket.

After I get the first issue of the magazine done I am going to build the TT as a article and movie project for the web. Should only take a week to build. I have thought about the movies I have watched from others and I think that a 90 min movie project should be able to cover a weeks build. On the detail finishing it could take another CD. I will show how I rough shape with speed and finish sand but the movies will not be HRS of sanding and commentary as I know its boring. There is an art to sanding and the finish is really in the sanding not the paint. I will show some shortcuts on sanding to achieve professional results taught to me by a master finisher.
