I took this photo in 1964 of the best finished Stunt ship I have ever seen. Any ideas who it belong to?

Too bad the whole AMA number is not visible, as the AMA could probably tell you who it was. When I joined AMA in 56 they were up to 5 digit numbers. DOC Holliday

Way before my time. Sure hope someone claims it.
What kind of car is in the back ground? 64 GTO may be? Bet it was hard to adjust the side view mirror. :P

Hey Linn,
Bob Lampione here,
I couldn't believe it when I saw that ship. My AMA # at the time was 36616 and when I became a CD I opted for 616 which is on the NATS winning Sabre and the original "The United".
Wow, that was my first real competition airplane after many sessions with my legendery teacher, Gene Shaffer.
My first NATS with that was 1965 or 1966, whichever one was at Willow Grove Naval Air Station at the time. It got me either 10th or 11th Place (You need to check the accuracy of that with our Historian Wynn Paul). When I went back in 1969 with the Sabre, that was the year that was for me.
Hung out till 1972, went through a herendous divorce and moved into Manhattan and the singles scene and became a very avid golfer.
I use to wander out to Flushing Meadows every now and then and fly anybody's airplane I could. I never lost the desire. Twenty years later I wound up at Chicopee, Mass with the 60 size white United II and qualified in the top twenty with it after laying it in inverted during a practice flight the morning of qualifying.
That became known as the famous " I pulled a Lampione Manuever" which is still famous to today.
I think 2006 was the first year I didn't live up to my reputation, Thank GOD.
Lets see some more old pictures.
Love and kisses and remaining yours in STUNT,
Bob "Champione" Lampione

I have wanted to know who built this airplane for 40 years. You are the man.
Thank you

Linn,
Correcdtion, I found some old photos and my AMA number was 36169. I stand corrected. I then opted for 616 when I became a CD. When I got back in the hobby in 1991, 616 was not available so they offered me 605, which is my current AMA.

Hi Linheart,
Bob DID build it, he was just correcting his AMA number boo boo. You can see 3616? on the wing. His number, at the time was 36169. He messed up at first and said his number was 36616. He's did say that it wasn't his plane.
I am pretty sure that plane is hanging on the wall in a picture in the construction article about his Sabre in Flying Models.. I was going to ask him about that, but he had already answered! ;D

Lin,
It looks like a Gene Schafer airplane but I do not know his AMA # - I will look at some of my old photos.
