Info on C/L Endurance Record

 I searced for a quite a while on the AMA web site and could not come up with the current record time for a C/L Endurance Flight. Can someone please steer me inthe right direction. I did find out that the fuel capacity has changed from 4 ozs. to 30cc.

  Do these records stand with the Fuel Quantity change from 4 ozs. to 30 cc? A simple yes or nop is all that I am looking for. I want to know what we are shootng at for a new record. It will be a senior flying.

As in the past with other control line events, if there is a change in requirements for an event the records at the time become moot.  I don't know how a person can get that kind of mileage with 30 cc let alone the 4 ounce limit.  Make sure the person has all the paper work for a record.  The biggest thing is a three view of the aircraft.  Also have the engine checked for legality.  It is a lot of work to go for a record, so I wish them luck.  DOC Holliday

If my math is correct you are looking at 30 cc = 1.014 oz. of fuel. If you are looking for a target time you could start with dividing the current records by 4 to get a good est. ?

This seems to take all the flying endurance and logistics out of the effort and makes it 99.99% of an engine and min drag plane issue.

I like the old 4 oz rule myself, but I do understand the many good reasons to go to the smaller fuel amount.

The Senior record looks like a piece of cake to set. I hope you guys tackle the open and junior records too. It would be fun to see a ringmaster hold these records!

AMA should have wiped off the old "4 ounce" records as soon the new rule took effect, but there was nobody on the stick.

If you set a new "30 cc" record maybe you should attach a note reminding them of the rules change.

 Thank you Doc. That is the info I was looking for. I will talk to the powers that be and see if we can go for all three records in the time we have.
 Rudy --- I would like to see all the class records held by a Ringmaster also.

I think the open record was set by a Cox Medallion 09 glowplug engine running on diesel fuel with the intake being a 1/64 in diameter hole.  The major problem is feeding the tiny amount of fuel/second in a reliable manner.  A single grain of pollen could plug it up perhaps.  I had some email back and forth with Gifford before the rule was changed, and these are my possibly faulty recollections.  I think he said he had figured out how to get over four hours out of four oz.  This is why he pushed for the 30 cc rule.

Was there any requirement about your pant's legs being dry  after one of those 4oz runs?
