This is to confirm what Darrell has posted.
I called Tom last night to let him know that no cars are allowed to drive up to the shelter at Huntersville, NC where he usualy set up his items for sale.
He told me of his contest staffing problems and that due to having to relocate to another office next weekend he would not be able to make our contest in Huntersvill, NC next weekend, May 3rd & 4th.

I was planning on going to Tom's contest and taking a couple of guys with me. To bad it has to be cancelled. I cannot make Huntersville next weekend because I have to attend a wedding. Hmm lets see wedding, contest, wedding, contest? LOL Like I have a choice. y1 I had hoped to get to Brodak's this year to. But that also has been taken off my Schedule. I'll be in Maine that week. This pushes my contest schedule on to Paducah, Memphis, Canton and Tampa. Don't know for sure which way it will go it is to early. I am really concerned that contest are now threatened by high transportation costs. Riding with others and sharing expenses might be the future for most of us. Examply: Atlanta is 600 miles 1200 rd trip @ 18mpg and $4.00pg that comes to  $266.00. Split that 3 ways = $88.00. Thats more reasonable. Looks like we all need to get mini vans!  y1

With all the cancellations, and rescheduled meets, I will *MAYBE* be able to go to the October meet at Huntersville (if they don't change that one, too!!!!!!!) Everything else is out right now.  Oh, I might get to Memphis, if I can afford it.  Gas is ridiculous, too bad we can't do something like the Boston Tea Party except for gas............ there is absolutely NO REASON for these prices, regardless what BS ANYONE says.... except for greed, and the oil companies are totally ate up with that!

Bill,

Glad to hear you will be at the October contest, The date is set in stone , it will not be moved, The   contest  date was changed  to the first week in May after a couple years discussion by our club members , We felt like it was a better date ,  we needed more time  between our contest and brodak's .

I really hate to hear of Tom Dixon,s Cancellation , Being involved with the Huntersville contest for over 15 years, I know how labor intensive running a contest can be, Tom has always set the standard for a well organized contest , well attended  , and seemed like he could do it with minium workers. I have learned alot from him, by just attending his contest and copying some of his procedures .

I feel assure with some  dedicated volunteer help , I will be the first to off my assistance to help out next year , and dedicated workers the event will continue next year. I always had a great time at the old site and the new site at Lockhead  parking lot. I have probably burned more fuel at his contest than any othe 2 day contest , plenty of flying circles .

Still kicking around the Memphis trip, trying to round some carpool buddies to ease the pain of fuel cost , ( sounds like anotherone of our famous  Road trips )

Stay in touch ,

Will
