As luck would have it I do not need a stripper.
« on: June 08, 2008, 04:11:05 PM »
Well I wrapped the fuse in silk span when I built the plane and for some reason when I cut the wood down I have a few places where the silk was laying over. I started to pull and it is pealing off like wall paper. Kind of easy. I will have a few areas that I need to sand but for the most part it is cleaned off.

Notice how slim the nose is now. Also on a side note I measured the thickness of the paper and all the paint. It was .0070 inchs thick! HB~>

Thanks guys!

Paul,
It is worthwhile to invest ~$30 in one of the small electric scales that are available. That way you can see what you are achieving (or not!). It makes it easier to figure out what it is worth to invest your time and effort in changing.

Yup. Someone has given me a heads up on a cheap scale at Wal-Mart.

I will stop by and pick one up on my next trip into town. y1

Paul,
Maybe your time doesn't seem worth much to you, but I bet a "redo" is worth the cost!

Well maybe so, but I just can not give up just yet. This will be my last attempt at making this plane fly a patteren.
I will try to do a pattern with this plane or.... kill it trying. ~~>

If it won't fly the pattern then use it to mentor a new flier. Bound to be some young person in your area that would like to fly.
