Art Johnson
« on: July 21, 2015, 09:35:19 PM »
Just settling in our dorm room at the college here in Oshkosh and set up my lap top. I talked to Sean this afternoon on our way intoo town, and he tells me that Art Johnson suffered a mild stroke her at the KidVenture circles on Monday, I think it was. Just would like to ask you all to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Sean said there was an EMT in the area when it was noticed art wasn't looking very well, and got him to a hospital ASAP. Sean said he did make an appearance at the tent later, but his daughter had come and taken him home with her. I think she lives just north of here. Anybody have any further information on his condition, please keep us informed. Art is a neat guy, old school modeler, and has been caretaker of all our equipment at the C.L circle at KidVenture, and has been there EVERY DAY, ALL WEEK, since the very first KidVenture. It will definitely be different here without him this year!

That's a bummer, Art is definitely the perennial 24/7 "Kidventurer". I hope he's doing better and everything comes out ok. y1

I'll be rolling into Wittman around noon/1:00 on Thursday.  #^

Art got out of the car and had trouble speaking, One of the volunteers this year is an EMT, and persuaded Art he had to see someone.  He did not want to go.  He  was worried about the airplanes more than his health.

His son and daughter spent a few days camping with us, because, there are no hotel rooms within 100 miles.

After filling in for Art, for 2 days, it is surprisingly hard to keep a fleet of trainers running, fueled, glow plugs, bent needle valves, lines untangled, all batteries charged, and everyone happy.  Art is a master.  he has the energy of someone 1/3 of his age.

Found out he puts in about 80 hours getting the airplanes and engines ready each year.

Saw Art yesterday.  He was mostly himself, struggled on a few words.  Seemed happy that Howard and I got everything up and running, and all was OK.

Oh he was at the Nats flying carrier the week before.

Have known Art for a long time.  He is quite a competitor in carrier events.   I will keep him in my prayers.
