ARGO 2 Casino Royale.
Cleared, completed, done!
Assembled just for the photo shoot. The engine will have to be removed for brake in.
I hope the ARGO 2 Casino Royale is well received.

Skip,
Thanks for the reply.
Looks only on the scoop, a carry over from the ARGO design.

George,
You're too kind, Thank you for taking the look.
We're neighbors, kinda.
I did some work on Pushy Galore tonight.
That model will be next.

Rich,
Thanks for the look and kind comment.
There's 5 different colors of paint not counting the clear coat and 4 different colors of vinyl with the graphics. I used no decals at all. Almost on the rudder but decided to print vinyl.
I will remove the engine for brake in. The ARGO 2 will get flown.
Thanks for the reply.

C,
Great looking ship. The field is in great shape see you out there.
Best, DennisT

Hi Charles,
Very nice job on this model. Beautiful artwork. We are having good success flying in Stuart, and the field is excellent . Would love to see you there and see this model in the sky. Hope you have time to come out. I know you have a busy schedule. Your workmanship is excellent, so would love to see it close up. Maybe fly it. ??? #^

Den, Will,
Thanks for the reply,
I think the field will have a toll on this model, gear in the wing and all, little prop clearance?
Terrible pilot.
I'd be more comfortable on asphalt, but you guys don't want to take the ride to the Fair Grounds. ;D
There's a great pocking lot there. I checked it out.
I have to Epoxy the engine and tank area first. See how it goes.
Will, I haven't seen you in 54 years and I know you don't remember me. Ted Hopkins' bunch.
Bout time we got together.
Charles
Edited for SP.

That has got to look awesome at the end of the lines, envious.
Motorman,
Yes, the model does have an usual outline. Pointless actually from a CL design standard. n~
Looks better in the photos, as all models do.
Thanks for the kind words.

Just stunning. H^^

"Shaken NOT Stirred" ? wink
I have always wondered if everybody got the quote wrong
A gent knows that shaking good Gin bruises it....stirred ONLY is how a proper Martini is made
At least for my Bombay Sapphire concoctions....
On the other hand my Russian Vodka's get the hardest bruising I can muster in 15 seconds
Charles you make some pretty models... 007 versions you do are not my cup o tea...I much prefer your variations on the military models
I personally don't give a rats ass if you ever fly them... that's for you to decide
BUT I sure would like to see you activity compete in Scale--- including flying your creations
Your buddy... Unashamed Troll Phred
-
Fred,
Thanks for the reply.
I haven't forgot that Sullivan starter I have to take a photo.
Here's the thing about scale. Honestly, I'm really not in that league. I do my thing and sure, my models look OK, but to do scale is another level that I cannot bring myself to.
I'm happy near the bottom. Not on the bottom, but close. ;D
Hey! Sorry I mixed you up with someone else, but there was a lot of someone else's. LL~
I'll get that Sullivan starter photo.
Thanks for taking a look.

"Stunning" a good word and I'll take it. ;D
Shame on me.

Charles,
Grass at field IS like asphalt. It's about 1/4 inch high, and would offer no problem for you.
Prop clearance, from the photos , looks like you have a foot of clearance, LOL.
As you know we are at the field on Saturday mornings. I know you work some , so how about this coming Sunday morning, would that work. Would love to catch up with you. I will have my electric Shark. Maybe
Dennis can come too.

Will,
You're a good man Will, and I know you have that "E" Shark. Post a photo of your Shark here in this Thread, no one will see it. LL~
Your Shark, gear in the fuselage or wing?
I have to run that OS LA at least once or twice on the stand. I can do that at the field.
I have a few other things to do to the ARGO 2 and one big problem to solve. I screwed up fitting the engine.
I fit it without the NVA in place. Now with the NVA and needle on the engine I cannot get it in. It will only go in without the needle.
Calling all EXPERTS! n~
Next Saturday.

Wow! That's gorgeous!. Beyond beautiful as always with you. Congratulations. I have a fine running LA 40. Very good engine despite bad reviews.

Allen,
Thanks! Are you using the stock NVA or did you replace it with an after market?
I had a NIB LA 40 I should have kept.

Your Shark, gear in the fuselage or wing?
Gear is in the wing. It's removable, so,it is a little fragile if not handled correctly. I damaged the landing gear on a previous Shark, by not carefully watching what I was doing, and took my eyes off the aircraft for a few seconds, and came in too hard. Totally my fault. So now I keep my eyes on the Shark at all times.

Lost it in a line break later on. Also my entire error. A clip failed that I did not secure correctly. Charles, stop asking questions , You are forcing me to reveal all my disasters, LOL. Let us talk about your airplane, what did you use for paint, how did you do that in Florida, with all the humidity? How long did it take you to build, give us some detail. I love the stance it has, and the scoop!

Will,
My finishing methods are in my Build Threads. Some are at CFC Graphics vendor's corner.
All aerosol cans start to finish. Krylon colors then 2K Spray Max auto clear. Graphics I get from CFC Graphics. He gives me a brake. I don't pay any attention to humidity. When I'm ready to paint I go out doors and just do it. Picnic table at local Park.
This thread has just about done, but I'll sweeten it with a few more photos.
You're a good man Will.

Charles, another masterpiece from your hands!
awesome craftsmanship and good taste! colors are great!!

All the way from Brazil.
I wish Marcus could see the ARGO 2, maybe he can?
Certainly not the level of what you would produce in building quality, but nice to look at especially from 10 feet. LL~

Larry,
This has never come up before? I guess it would be the same reason others have only one, or two or three.
No one reads them anyway.
Hey! Do you like the ARGO 2?
CB
-
James, John,
Thanks for the positive comments.
Yes John, there will be a flight report.
Just keep in mind, I have an engine to brake in on Saturday hopefully and I have to solve this NVA issue I mentioned. That's not a good thing.
Thanks for the replies.

Charles, I am not one that likes to pile on and endlessly troll your posts, but...I agree with Larry on this matter.
The eleven quotes as the signature on every single one of your posts is terribly annoying (and preachy,) especially when using a smart phone or tablet. Scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll...UGGHH....another small post.....scroll scroll scroll....
Perhaps you can just pick one quote that you like best and try that as your signature.
Very nice work on the new plane. Now its time to roll out the lines and give us a flight report.

I condensed it just for you. Doesn't read as well, but as I said, who reads that stuff?
Yes, there will be a flight report, probably in about two weekends.
Thanks for liking the ARGO 2.

I gotta fix the needle valve mistake I made and do it without cutting up the model.

Very pretty Charles the airplane is a real looker. Who the hell cares about a flight report. So what if it is not a CLPA world beater. Anyone would be proud just flying that model round and round in level flight. Who cares if it never sees a CLPA contest or anything else. Many would be proud just hanging it on the wall for it's decorative value. Bravo Charles it is a wonderful creation and as long as it makes you happy, that's all that counts. Now if only we could fly off that immaculately manicured golf course green..... that would be something. Oh and I can agree grass any longer than in your photos does tend to beat up wheel accents like the ones on the Argo2. I had the same issues on my magnum the gear covers would get all twisted around. BTW depending on my schedule if you need a pit man for your flight trials I am ready to assist.
-
It would be nice just to know it would take off fly level and land in one piece. Charles does work that would try my patience. In my early years I would try my best to get a finish that would look half as good as to what Charles does. I would then be afraid to fly my creation as I was still unsure of my capabilities. Then I asked a club member to fly one of my planes and he proceeded to put it through the pattern. After landing he said quit worrying about finish until you can do the pattern. Was told to worry more about building straight and light. Any way another way of breaking in an engine if it will hold a setting good enough to get air borne is to fly it. All my engines get final break in in the air. The lowest appearance I ever got was with a profile at an early contest and I was placed last behind all the built up full bodied planes. Didn't worry as I beat most of them score wise to place them behind me on the score board. Don't forget the video of possible. H^^
-
That list is gettin long D>K

Beautiful
Take a video when you fly it.

Traian,
I don't have the means to do the video thing. Possibly someone at the field? The ARGO 2 won't be flown immediately, I have to brake in the engine. Besides I'm busy working on other designs that I have to get done.
Thanks for the reply.

I was weighing the GBR3 and the parts to it, so I thought why not weigh the ARGO 2.
The ARGO 2 weighs 3lbs 4oz if anyone is interested.
And that IS what it weighs.
CB

What engine is in there? That weight doesn't sound unreasonable.

James,
Just saw your reply. Thanks for the kind words.
I haven't seen many CL models with extreme finishes or graphics "in person," except for photos, so I'm at a loss to judge the ARGO 2 against other CL models. And they always look better in photos don't they. LL~
How's this, the ARGO 2 is better than some, not as good as others.
It's for sale!
Thanks again for the kind repy.
Charles
Edited for spelling.

Almost had that anticipated maiden flight today with my ARGO 2 Casion Royale. Almost.
Next Saturday could be it. I hope so.
The model did look good at the flying field and in the hands of Dennis. ;D
Thunderbird wing and moments.

Oh Danny Boy still trying to make number one. LL~ LL~ LL~

We are opposites Charles. You have planes and don't fly I don't have planes and want to fly. Got an idea You build them I fly them.
Motor break in 2-3hours in a day. I expect a motor broke in by next weekend and a maiden flight by Sunday. Better off come to Atlanta and fly at the contest.

Guys, enough already with the ball busting and cyber snipeing . Clearly, Charles is a fine craftsman who builds nice models. What difference does it make to anyone here whether or not he flies them or goes to competitions? There is room for everyone here if you're a model builder, model flier ,or both!Lighten up,this negativity doesn't have any place here. Just my 2 cents......Cheers,PhillySkip
-
Although his politics suck, and he fails to grasp what pieces of art 19 or 20 point models are, Charles DOES fly, and builds pretty planes.
He's also a skilled craftsman who will work with you until a design (for stickers or mask) is finalized.
Have fun

Since I was very young, I was always taught to treat people the way you want them to treat you. I would never judge a person based on whether or not his creations can fly, just like I would never judge a car builder based on whether he drove his beautiful custom car every day or kept it in an air conditioned garage and only trailered it out to the shows. Who cares? My thoughts are that a beautiful car, just like a beautiful airplane, can be appreciated on face value alone, regardless of it's performance. Of course performance matters to those who love to win contests, but then the other side of the coin is a guy with a crappy looking airplane that just loves to fly and compete. He doesn't care if he finishes last, he just wants to fly and compete. Or maybe he doesn't want to compete at all, just wants to sport fly on the weekends with his buddies. I suppose some people would have a problem with that as well.
When someone submits a picture of his creation for us to look at, if you don't like the design, or don't particularly like the paint, that's your opinion, but I would never publicly ding someone because of my personal likes or dislikes. Again, drawing on my upbringing, I was always taught that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Creative criticism is one thing, negative keyboard slamming is another. I'm guessing that there are people lurking out there who are afraid to post or comment on anything because they're afraid of what might come back at them.
I have worked with Charles on my last two airplanes. He has spent a lot of time with me discussing the best way to do certain things. I appreciate his help and value his friendship. His products are top notch, I would recommend his graphics and vinyl to anyone.
As someone used to say, "there's room in this hobby for everyone". Why attack someone who obviously loves building and maybe doesn't really enjoy flying all that much?
This is such a great place to gather information. I've personally received a ton of help from complete strangers and I really appreciate that. Can't we just keep things positive and friendly here? Who cares if someone's airplanes is a contest winner or a wall ornament?

I have never seen Charle's airplane in person however from the pictures they look top notch. His design eye is not my cup of tea but none the less (that is my mind's eye) it is his creation. The workmanship and finish are what one should strive for.
His way of doing things are not mine but the end results are what HE sees. Is that a problem? Some will never go to the NATS some may never fly their creations due to physical issues, who cares! Judge not lest Ye be Judged.
Looks good Charles Carry on!
-
Charles, keep psoting your work of art
regardless if they will fly or not, they are nice to see, when someone´s strive for such superb finish is a joy.
so what´s the point of asking 300000 times if they will fly or not? it doesen´t matter
i have build hundreds ( yes hundreds) of planes for clients along 30 years and i guess that abut 30% never flew!
congratulations again Charles, look forward to see the next job!
-
Well, This is called Stunt Hanger. I thought that would make it a Stunt Forum. I guess there's room for "Aerial Art" if Sparky says there is. I don't really care one way or the other but do get a little tired of the "fawning" over something that's supposed to be a flying airplane and "stunt plane" and everyone "fawning" knows it will never fly STUNT!
However it's Sparky's Forum and he has the reigns on what happens here!
Sorry I joined into this "fray".
Randy Cuberly
-
Yeah, it's called Stunt Hanger but it is not ALL about "stunt" .Look at all of the different categories listed in the "general discussion" sections. Look, I consider myself a "stunt flier" but because of the other stuff offered here, I learned about carrier and speed events that I enjoyed thoroughly this summer. Randy ,not everyone here is fawning over Charles' models. Those that wish to compliment him do so.Many don't care either way......and some seem to enjoy breaking his stones. I agree with Vince .If you've got nothing nice to say ,say nothing. Peace,Skip
-
Charles good work on this bird. I love the artistic balance you achieve in your paint scheme. There is a beautiful harmony in the paint job, I love how everything works together. I always appreciate that in all your creations that I know of.
What I said before is because of how I am. I take short cuts to finish a model because I can't wait to fly them and I get tired of building them sometimes. The most appearance points I have ever got was 15. I always think that a person should do whatever makes them happy not whatever makes the ones around them happy. If you ever decide to put this bird in the air or not is your decision alone. If i can help in any way I will. Frankly I think it would be a great bird in the air. It is nice to get fulfillment from creating, but it brings it to full fulfillment, when the creation becomes what was meant to be. I would love to fly it.
-
The Argo 2 weighs 3lbs 4oz. That's 3 x 16oz plus 4oz. Unless I have it wrong that's
52 oz.
Like the weight or not, I don't care because it's a great weight for what the model is and it's the truth.
The Argo 2 started out as a Thunderbird.
It's all explained in the Argo 2 Build Thread.
-
I totally agree with all the positive and live and let live statements above. For crying out loud people, some of us need to grow up and quit being bullies.
