Are there any ARF/ARC profiles available for a .40 size engine? My Brodak Cardinal is getting a little long in the tooth and was a porker to begin with so I'd like to replace it with something I can get into the air quickly to compete in the profile event. Brodak used to have a ARF Cardinal but I don't see it listed on their site anymore. Suggestions?

The Legacy is good from what I've read!! I had the privilege of building one for a fellow in Texas and I though the kit was a great build, plus I modified it so the wing could be removed for storage and transportation. Also there's the ARC and ARF versions!!

Take a good look at the oriental, kit or arf. I have the profile and the built up version, both are 35 to 40 ships.

Thanks for the suggestions but, the ARC/ARF Legacy is not a profile (from what I can see), the P40 is a kit only as is the profile Oriental. Correct me if I'm wrong. My building table is already occupied with a major project so I'm hoping for a "quick hitter" to get into the air without a lot of fuss and bother.

The ARF Pathfinder would be the perfect choice but unfortunately it would appear that they are not available anymore. Check around and see if you can find one languishing in someones shop!

Call Brodak and ask? They may have onsies-twosies of something that'll work, but isn't enough to catalog.
All you'll waste is a bit of time.

Availability may be an issue, but I seem to recall Tom Morris was offering a profile Cavalier in various states of construction.
Wouldn't be surprised if he is not at the Nats, but you may be able to drop him a line/email to see what might be within the realm of the possible...

You might get something if you put a "wanted" in the Classifieds. Or check Flea-bay.
Dave's right that things will be slow this week, with half the crew off to the Nationals.

Check with Brodak. Sometimes website fails to show available stock. New P40 ARFs and ARCs are on the way. The P40 is one of the best flying ARF/ARC profiles.

I checked on line and don't see the P-40 in Brodak's lineup.
Did I miss it?

No, no, you are correct about the Legacy not being a profile :) . I just made the suggestion because I was impressed with the kit and Brodak does offer it as an ARC and and ARF; but if you're locked in to wanting a profile, I understand and please ignore my suggestion. ;)

Actually, if you just want to get in the air quick with a good flying airplane and have a 51 to 65 engine the ARF Legacy would be a good choice. As an ARF it really isn't much more effort to put a large full body airplane in the air than a profile, and they nearly always fly better due to the extra stiffness in the fuselage. Might cost a bit more but not that much. It does require a larger engine to fly well.

PS: If you fly a larger airplane with a 60 size engine you will probably never want to go "small" again. There's a reason why the experts use them and it's not because they are harder to fly because they aren't! They are actually easier to fly well.

The Top Flite Flite Streak ARF and an OS25 would get you in the air and very competitive if set up right.

Call Brodak.

Tower currently lists it as being available in late September. They have Noblers in stock, but that's not a profile.
At one point the recommended CG position in the directions was way far back -- they were either using some experienced combat pilot's favorite number, they were using the "right" location for an RC plane, or they were just cracked. At any rate, the Dirty Dan recommended position is 1 5/8" behind the leading edge, and it's hard to argue with da Dirt (mostly because he's like a rabid terrier if he things you're not paying attention, but it helps that he's usually right).
I'd highly recommend an OS 25LA to go on the thing, although a 20FP ought to work fine as well.
If you get a Nobler, put a 46LA in it.

Checkout the Corehouse Web site. Phil offers Profile ARF that would get you in the air quickly. Too bad UKEY 40 no longer available.

Thanks for all the responses but after flying the old porker today and having more fun than should be legal, I'm going to stick with it for this season and build a new one over the winter working really hard to make it light. To paraphrase the great Dave Steib, "Tomorrow I'll build a really light airplane".
