Title: ARF Kaos C/L Almost Ready
Post by: Leester on July 16, 2006, 10:43:57 AM
My ARF Kaos converted for C/L is almost ready for flying. 55" WS, 566sq.in. + whatever was added when I enlarged the flaps, suspended 4" bellcrank, adj leadouts, tip box, adj. rudder. ST G-51 the tongue muffler will be replaced by a S. Dinger tube muffler on order. Total weight 60 3/4oz. All I have left is to secure the nose gear. It's take apart or it won't fit in my car. Thanks for the help on hooking up the flaps and rigging up the adj. rudder. Should be interesting.

It's simply a matter of having one's priorities in the proper order; the grass will still be there when the building is finished. ;D

Go, Lee!

I hope your meeting was very successful.  Is that Mt Joy?  I flew there a couple times in the late 60s.  If you keep building youre gonna need that tractor trailer you drive to haul all the planes in.  BTW the Kaos looks great.  Have you flown it yet?

Keep having fun...Thomas

Wow - this brings back memories.

I hadn't considered a Kaos for CL, but remember it was an outstanding RC pattern ship - actually very competitive in the early 1970's. I've built and flown three and many of us continued to use the Kaos wing on other designs.

It had one of the best wings of all time, but I seem to remember it had a semi-symetrical airfoil at the root, changing to fully symetrical at the tips. Did they change the airfoil for the ARF?

Please let us know how this works out.  <=

Ron

Thomas: Yes that's Mt. Joy. And no to flying yet.
Ron: The airfoil seems to be as you say but is hard to notice, but this is my first experience with this plane. It does have a nice wing. I'll let ya know how it does. It's just for goofin off and I mainly wanted to see if I could convert it.
