Title: Arctic Fox
Post by: Leo Mehl on June 09, 2007, 02:21:51 PM
This plane designed as an entry level stunter By Leo Mehl and drawn by Pat Johnson.this plane took 6th place in the regional in advanced. Pat drew this plane to be powered by an OS 25 or Os 25 FP. the origional was powered by a GMA Fox 35, hence the name. It wieghed 42 ounces and flew well in the wind. I hope to write a construction artical and have it published. In the meantime anyone that wants plans can get them from Pat Johnston.

Look sharp, Leo!

Who built/flew the one that won Advanced?  (is it the same plane in your pictures?)

That is a sharp looking plane. I like the 40 size stunters.

But will this plane fly in the right direction? LL~

Bill, this plane was designed built and flown by me at the 94 Regionals. I tied Jerry Eicten for 6th place with it. It is the perfect size for a fox 35 or LA 25 Or Fp25. It had some great qualities not found on many planes this size. Don Mcclave said that it really flared out good for landing. It is small at about 495 sq. inches with a 49 inch wingspan. but did the pattern very well if built around 42 oz.
Paul, I think the plans are built to fly counterclockwise which is up for debate whether that should be consdered the wrong way or not. In any case it is a good plane and a step up from profiles. This was desighned to be an intermediat or advanced plane. Thanks for the reply.Leo
