Archie Adamisin composite plane status?
« on: October 14, 2008, 01:20:37 PM »
Does anyone know where Archie is with his composite plane? I was following the progress closely, but haven't seen anything on it in awhile.

Randy:
A change of direction for details on the take-apart for mass production slowed things down.  Then he ran head-on into Little League season.  Along the way he got a paying project for a new Q-40 pylon racer.  Now I got him working on some Classic plans while he finishes off the internal construction details on the moldy.  He has made about a 1/2 dozen test fuselages,  and wing and tail molds are finished.

We still expect to test fly this fall, and I'm ordering my new motor for mine in the in the next week or so.  Meanwhile I am using one of the new fuselages with an old set of wood wings for another Evo 36 testbed...

Stay tuned, and THANKS for asking!

A Turnigy 35-42-1100.  (probably not what you wanted to hear!)  Will fly with up to an APC 12x6P and 4 cells.

We also have fuselage fitted with an Evo-36.  Brother Dave sez we will have to pull his IC engines out of his cold dead fingers....  (PE**)

Randy,

Thanks for your interest.  The Versa has been the unfortunate casualty of real life.  As my uncle said, I had the Summer baseball teams, a summer family vacation, and unfortunately having to take some side jobs to keep up with our failing economy yet increasing price structure.  Things seem to be slowing down here as of late, so I expect to have more progress soon.

The idea had very good intentions.  It still does, just the limited time in recent months has stiffled progress.  I will post with new pictures of the molds and some of the tooling required to glue in the wing internal structure and such soon.

Dennis,

4 cell? I thought it would be 5.

Archie,

No worries. Just curious.

The Versa is roughly the same size as the Genesis-E & Igor's very successful F2B.  4S is pretty comfortable with room to grow.  Have not seen a need for 5S but those with the heavier birds are showing it certainly can be done...
