Title: ARC Vector
Post by: Willis Swindell on June 25, 2006, 08:36:24 AM
This is my new ARC Vector with a B-40, adjustable tip flap and an experiment with Sig’s new AeroKote. The covering is sort of in-between MonoKote and UltraKoat It uses the same heat as MonoKote and goes around curves not quite as good as Ultrakote but better then MonoKote. How it holds up to wrinkles? Time will tell. I put it out in 90 degree sun four or five times and nothing happen but I left it in the van for a week at Brodaks and a few wrinkles on the wood parts, flaps and elevators. I have only flew it once At Brodak’s and it needed a tank Adjustment I had to shim the engine up about 1/16 of an inch, haven't flown it sense then. That one flight impressed me I think It is going to be one of the best flying planes I have.

Hi, Willis, what prop are you using on your Vector?

The prop is a 11x5 from my stash of Revup props. I also added a head gasket which made the B-40 adjustable. Before it was hard to keep a needle setting breaking hard and taking half a lap to slow back down. now it breaks in maneuvers and runs how you set it on the ground, at least it did at Brodaks. Now that i’m at sea level I might have to add another gasket or open the head a little.

Willis,

Looks good....I use SIG aerokote all the time....I like it....it uses a lower heat then monocote....it goes rounmd curves REAL easy in my opinion...just heat and stretch...I am almost tempted to post pics of my NEW vector.....but will wait until it is done....it is all Aerokote....

Love the plane.....probably the best flying models I have flown....

Hey Willis. I believe everyone got our planes mixed up. She looks sleek. Looks like you spent more time making pieces fit tighter than I did.  Sometime this summer I will make a trip to Fentress. See Ya
