After posting several questions about issues with a B6 charger, I thought I should follow-up with a positive result, for any who followed those threads or may search for IMax B6 info.
The fact that it won't access the calibration menu (press and hold Dec & Start while plugging in power) is a sure sign of a clone.
Firstly, my 1100 mah cells are generics and are my first dealings with Lipos.
I can't speak of details 'cause I don't remember them, but I'm confident I mishandled the two I was reporting on from the get-go, not knowing any better.
Having a 3rd cell still NIP, i decided to try charging it from it's 3.7v storage charge.
Charging @ C/.5. it took a bit over 1 hr and an immediate DVM check read the proper 4.2V; after an hour's rest it's holding that reading.
So, while I have a knock-off, the troubles I've been dealing with almost certainly attributable to my lack of experience rather than to the charger itself.
A better quality, pricier charger is no doubt a good idea but at this point I think mine will do what I need as long as I do what it needs.

I hope this may help someone in the decision-making process.
