Anyone take over Lone Star's niche?
« on: June 17, 2008, 07:31:02 PM »
I heard somewhere that another company has taken up Lone Star's various product lines.  Is that so?  And if so, who?

Thanks for any info you might have, Dzl

Got anything else to go on besides "I Heard Somewhere". It would help in tracking this rumor down. The more specific you can be will ease the chore.

Actually, Don Hutchinson was saying there's a local guy with some great wood available locally, but I can't remember his name right now. Don could fill in the blanks.......

Bill: Actually, I thought I read it on one of the stunt forums, but apparently not, since I'm sure someone who reads them more faithfully than I do would remember it.  So I guess I was just "wishful thinking."

I am looking for some 1/2" carbon fiber tubing that Lone Star used to handle--according to a local RC club member who wanted to know what happened to his source of supply!  Thanks for the replies, tho, Dzl

Once again, Nelson hobbies in Keller, TX now has a good supply of balsa. He advertises in Flying Models so you can find his contact info there. I have seen the wood, it is fine quality and I will gladly use it for stunt ships. It is graded by weight down to 6# which can be anything below 7#. Prices are OK, certainly less than buying from a local hobby shop.
As for carbon tubing, you might try calling Mike's Hobby Shop in Carrolton, TX, I know they have carbon tubing in stock.

Try  www.modelresearchlabs.com  for C/F tube. Although primarily a FF site they may have something that you can use. Check out their sources and prices on polyspan.

The 1/2 inch tubing you are looking for??

Wouldn't happen to be .505 size OD as I recall.

If so Phil Cartier Corehouse might be able to help.

it is under comp. boom  $30 for ten of them

I don't think these are carbon fiber however.  These are the glassforms fiberglass booms.
