If everyone is going electric, where are all those good stunt 60's for sale.

There are still a few holdouts that keep on flying those greasy smelly tuned pipe breathing monsters. Kind of like when they all switched from Fox 35's. People just never learn and will stick with that old outdated stuff.

I know it is past April fools day, but you can't let all of these things go by. LOL

I got a good stock of just about any c/l stunt engine you can name except for pipe engines. I have about ten T&L .60s stashed away and three or four more I hope to build up soon as complete, stock c/l engines that will still run fine. I have a good stock of St.51s also, stock engines and T&L .51s. I have a good collection of just about every "trendy" engine that anyone ever used and can make them all work and run well. Electric is just fine, I just don't have the time, money, nor the desire to go through the learning curve. I think things will settle down to a point where electric may be dominant at the highest level, but not exclusive. After all, a ST.60 was World Champ just a few cycles ago. Never say never! At a sport flyer level, I think it will be an equal mix. Electric is just another viable power plant choice for those who wish to pursue it. What I have collected and accumulated will serve me just fine for as long as I will be able to hold a handle, and yes Sean, you can have them when I can't use them any more!

They are in my storage cabinet. Oiled and ready for their next run, when ever that is, if I can still get glo fuel in 10 years. But who would want to get all oily and messy?

OK, back to work on my electric powered classic Skylark for VSC. After all, this is no different than putting a modern glo engine in one. All I am trying to do is see what it is capable of doing...Which is the argument for using modern glo engines.

Sorry, wandered off topic. All my glo motors are in storage. Maybe when I pass someone else might get them....But not before then.

Lol when that day comes, Ill probably be one of the very few still running glow engines

I'll probably switch to electrons in a case by case basis. Some designs lend themselves to electric and would look better without a big engine and muffler sticking out. Lew McFarlands Akromaster and Larry Scarinzis Blue Angel are two that come to mind. They would look cleaner without glow power.

I have built an electric. I have flown a couple of OP electrics. Nothing mysterious there or earth shaking. They can be made to work but I'm too happy with my PA's and RO Jetts and too lazy and stubborn to give up on something that works well for something that takes a totally new direction of learning and at least so far hasn't shown that it is any real improvement.

Also, I happen to like oily fingers and loveingly wiping down my airplanes...part of the charm.

Mostly I'm not willing to give up the smell of burning castor in the mornings.

I started flying electric a long time ago. Three AA batteries through a coil to fire the plug that makes the spark to burn the Coleman fuel and fly the plane. I love the smell of Coleman fuel and Walmart 2 stroke oil in the morning. All we had in the 40's was electric. Of course, the fuel was a little different. Gasoline and 70wt. smells pretty good too.

This goes for models too... maybe we can drop the round engine bit but the oil stays.

I haven't had an engine run like that since I started flying my PA's over 15 years ago. Preventive maintainence is the key.

Phooey...

Hasn't happened to me in 60+ years of competition. Practice or setting up a new airplane yes...competition, never!

Besides there are just as many things that can go wrong in an electric system. Also just as many things to set up when new ....maybe more!

I'm not criticizing anyone that want's to fly electric. I don't, and further at least at the moment they are just as good, not any better for competition than the IC Setups, so I see no compelling reason to change!

For sissies that don't want to go home smelling bad or dripping oil...I understand and won't make fun of you!

I'll never trade my ST 60 for electric power as far as control line goes. Between my dad and myself I think we have 7 or 8 of them two are NIB. Seen one on ebay last week NIB go for $1,001.00 yikes...Anyway, our ST 60's run consistent and perfect, and in my opinion have the greatest sound of any model airplane engine just being on a tongue muffler swinging a big prop, no silly pipes needed lol.

I am 3yrs into this hobby and I have seen/flown both. Electric has some merits, but it just doesn't do it for me. It's kind of like flying a Prius

However, I don't care if people do go that route. It's just not for me.

What I don't understand is why folks who have been flying glow for 40-50 yrs just wake up one day and switch to electric and bad mouth 2 cycle engines. I suppose there are those who prefer to fly over fiddling, but to me the engine is the heart of the ship and as such I prefer my heart to have a pulse.

I have my engines running as good as I've ever had,, to me flying a CL PA plane with an electric motor is like pulling the 2.3 litre inline 3 out of my Triumph & putting washing machine motor in it & painting Hybrid on the tank where it now says Rocket111 when I go electric it will be to slot cars.

Throw those old i.c.'s in the trash!!

Except for the PA's and any NIB LA-46s. You can send those to me. I'll generously pay for shipping to save you the walk to the dumpster....
