Title: Anyone interested in some honeycomb sandwich panels
Post by: david smith on November 01, 2020, 08:58:00 AM
Just wondering if anyone would be interested in this stuff. If so I will make a post in the classifieds. I have 1/8 in thick and 1/4 in. It is fiberglass sheet with an aluminum honeycomb core. Weight is about .025 oz per sq in. Cost for a 2 in wide piece will be $.50 an inch for the 1/8 and $.65 an inch for the 1/4. I am still trying to figure out how to go about shipping. Small pieces won't be an issue but if anyone wants some longer pieces then that might be an issue. I can do custom lengths if you want. The longest I can do is 36 in on the 1/8 and 33 on the 1/4. I have a bunch already cut at 2 in. The 1/8 in is coming out of a triangle ish shaped piece so the wider the piece the shorter it has to be.

If anyone has suggestions on shipping please let me know what you think would be best.

Thanks
David

" Advantage might be they won't warp when you paint them. "

Actually , If you just polished them , you could convine everyone you had some new polished silver paint . ! ;) .

I also have a little with a Nomex honeycomb core that is lighter than the aluminum core, however, I only have it in 1/4 in. What are the rough dimensions on your flaps? I can cut a piece and see what it weighs. I would say that the twist would be similar to a piece of 1/4 in plywood than balsa. They definitely will not warp.
