I am putting out a feeler here guys. Here is the situation. I have become employed at a first rate rapid prototyping shop in the last six months. They are plenty busy and not looking for business.
I have access to molding equipment of a very high caliber. From 3D printers to CNC machines (plastic only) and several autoclaves as well as design equipment above and beyond CAD. I also have the bosses blessing for tooling use but mold casting materials will cost.
So what I really want to know is how much interest there is? For new carbon fiber gear, bellcranks, old single style control horns for nonflapped designs, cowls and wheel pants...etc.
A few years back I called Dan Winship and asked if he were going to make any more stunt equipment, gear in particular. He said no and also said he did not care if i made copies of some of his stuff. As most will attest... very high quality, like jewelry! LL~
I will have to touch base with Dan again, however I will have the ability to make dead on copies of just about anything, and make it from and carbon/epoxy or other urethane materials. Some that will will even simulate rubber quite well for somebody who might want something for scale...untested as to durability thus far but worth exploring.

Thanks for the great opportunity to move ideas forward. Here are a couple of mine.
(1) Moulded, "Veco style" spinners, especially the needle nose style.
(2) A line of Cl wheels, thin and very light.
(3) Something to contain mutable line sets.

I like the way you think but I would probably want to do handles out of urethane with some carbon re enforcement possibly. Makes for a pricy handle with that much carbon and epoxy. Besides there are plenty of good handles out there now. The two sided line real is a killer idea!... But also probably best built out of a cheaper material. The urethanes we use currently are on par with what houses your computer, most medical equipment and has been used for military applications.

Stunt wheels is a great idea! We have been molding this two part black silicone to make rubber pads for digital imaging equipment... I just need to test it out. Urethane bushed hubs could work... weight could get goofy unless I opt for a Thin Urethans hub done ultra slim with the rubber I mentioned for the tire.
Also of note here, finding a manufactured prop with a hub that WILL fit under a Veco NN spinner has been a challenge... lends itself toward what ideas might be considered for a prop as well.
I liked STalker Modusa NN spinner but never used one. Back when I used Stalkers we gave the extras out as door prizes at our contests.
The Stalker props were nice too but didnt do well with repitching and split easily. For me what they offered never worked well for my airplane, but others loved the props. Not sure if Kaz still stocks that or not but I will look into it.
Props are a pain and there are plenty out there... going full tilt on this would be laborious. Maybe just some specific offerings or custom orders.

For my carrier lines, to keep the throttle line separate from the control lines, I glue and bolt two SIG Mfg reels together. H^^

Also a line of Spinners with a molded style more like the ME-109, P-51, Hurricane, Spitfire, etc. Good Aluminum backplates and propnuts avaiable. Of course at a price less than the first-born such as that other well-known spinner supplier. %^@

Great idea Charles. Go to FormulaPrototypes.com. to get a birds eye view of what is being built here currently. Most equipment shown here are digital imaging devices for the medical field. Some comes out of silicon valley, others have miltary applications/aspirations. Fortunately, this company not only does the proto work, but small production runs for sales applications and demonstrations, initial sales. Then possibly it all goes to china for tooling... if the gagdet sells.

Hi John, congrats on you new employment! I would be interested in at least two of the landing gears that Dan used to make. I think they had 3 screws instead of 4 on the fuselage mounting plate.

How about CF gear with built in wheel pants?
What about a CF nose gear?
Motor cruch with some type of rubber damping to reduce vibration ?
A REAL CL field box.
Let me think some more.

I would love to see Dan Winship's bell cranks back in production if the cost can be kept down to manageable. With out the Lead Outs attached would be fine.

First off, I"m thinking CL handles, made in halves with the metal CNC'd.
Modeler does the assembly.
That would be a good start because a bunch would be sold.

I would be interested mostly in repros of the Winship LG's. I've got one on a plane, and it works most excellently... not too stiff, not too soft, etc. CF Spinners would be cool, of course, but a CF landing gear that was designed to mount in the wing would be even better. H^^ Steve

A carbon fiber wheel chair, that weighs about 18 lbs, folds nicely, doesn't pinch {ever!} and costs under $100 {or less if you can't afford that}..

:) Let me get more homework out of the way. Explore our possibilities and determine what is cost effective. From you, I know what is most wanted and know what was/ is needed. There are several items we will explore, props being one, but liability is an issue in this matter. I will not visit that right now, but I have ideas. ;D
