Or there abouts?
I just took a job in the area and I am looking to see who flies in or around Columbia SC.
First hobby shop I went into didn't even have kits, but I'm not discouraged.
If you know of someone - a club or something - please post contact info here?
Thanks,
Mccoy40

McCoy There is a very good hobby shop in Rock Hill about 65 miles north of Columbia at exit 77. You will not find CL kits at any Hobby shop in North or South Carolina. When you go to the hobby shop in Rock Hill you might as well drive up to the Huntersville field and come to the MCLS club meetings on 4th Saturday of the month. There is one member that lives in Columbia but I have not seen him in a long time and one member Watt Moore south of Rock Hill. Several members drive over 100 miles one way. One member who is always here for the club meetings drives 150 miles one way to be here. Watt has his own flying site at his home about 55 miles north of Columbia. Look up Watt in PAMPA or send me a email. Columbia to Huntersville is interstate all the way, easy trip but long. Drive up to Watts house and ride with him. He would like the company y1

Hey, McCoy - some good people are offering helpful advice.
Per Ed's post, a little note of gratitude wouldn't hurt - right, Ed?
For what it's worth, I'm in the Columbia area alomst every weekend and I have a flying field.

All,
I apologize for not getting back here - Thank you for the information.
I have to get a security clearance for the new job and it has been an intense three or four days filling out the
forms/screens
I was aware of the club up in NC and I also stopped in on the hobby shop in rock hill -
about ten years ago. I'll try getting up to the club meeting on the 4th Saturday -
I used to fly in Winston Salem. there is a really nice hobby park there and maybe I'll get up that way as well someday
Thanks again for your responses

McCoy,,
Good to have you in the area , get up with us when you get settled in and come out and fly with us., Huntersville site is alot better than the winston Salem, Two paved circles and one Grass circle , The site is funded by the County Parks dept with nice big shelter .

I would suggest becoming a PAMPA member...there are six members listed in SC.....I know most of them and they are great guys....
Have fun!

I live almost due North of Columbia on US Hwy. 1 in the Southern Pines/Aberdeen/Pinehurst area of NC. I haven't been to Hobby Park in W-S in a year or so. It has kinda fallen into a bit of disrepair. Not a WHOLE lot of activity there anymore compared to several years ago.

I am so glad to hear from you guys. I will try to make it up to the field in NC above Charlotte. I have been very busy over these past few weeks getting set up in our new place I haven't gotten back in here to see my replies.
What is worse is that my work blocks this site and just about every other site I go too. :-\
This is relatively new to me. But I work on a secure government site and apparently they take no chances
oh well... ~^
