Anyone fly near Troy, MI?
« on: May 13, 2015, 11:20:25 PM »
I'm in Washington Township & would like to hook up with some CL folks this week.  My daughter lives her & I have a place here, so I will be coming pretty often and will buy the coffee for some fellowship.

Hi Steve, I live quite a ways south of Troy but there are a few guys up that way. John Paris and Jay Williams are fairly close I think. I hope you can hook up. If you're in the area mid August try to make our Michigan CL Championships in Westland near Metro airport, its a 2 day meet and Saturday night I have a Weenie Roast at my place and the guys fly on my backyard circle, you're welcome too!

Steve,
There is an event at Rouge Park (off of Joy Rd. near M-24) this weekend on both days.  Normally a combat and racing type event but they will be running some low key combat and Classic in memory of Jim Morway, a local flyer who passed away about 2 years ago.  I will be there and I think that Jay will be as well.  Start time between 9 and 10.  This will be a good chance to cross paths.  FWIW, Jay and a few others fly in Flint on a fairly regular basis.  I make it out there when time allows.
John

Randy,
Thanks for the plug.

We'll be at the Rouge Park venue all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Easy to find, but there's ONLY ONE way in.  You MUST enter off Joy Road, just east of Telegraph.  The key landmark is the old Detroit Police Cavalry barn which is now a private horse stable.

It's all cut, cleaned and ready for action.

Thank you John Randy, and Paull  Rouge Park turned out to b a little far away schedule wise, but I did get to go to Wetzel Memorial aviation park in McComb County.  They were having an RC fun fly type event.  It is 1 then2 minutes from our place, and they have beautiful CL field.  Met Dan?, Phil?, & another CL flier.  Very nice guys but  then I  expected nothing less from our kind of people!  I might get an ARF to fly when I come up.
Michigan folks are really some of the nicest in the country.
Look forward to meeting you next visit.
