Anyone ever heard of Royal Products?

While at my LHS I found a old box full of these spinners. No back plate is required. I have been running one on my Tutor II and was thinking about putting one on my Bi-Slob. Anyone ever seen these spinners before? They seem old and the hobby shop is selling them at the price on the package.

In the Early 80's I bought a Royal Corsair Jr. R/C kit. They also had a line of Engines, they turn up on eBay every so often. Not sure if they're still around?

Royal Products manufactured a long list of mostly scale R/C kits, accessories and hardware.  The kits they offered were last sold through Hobby Barn....if I remember correctly.... but all products, as far as I know, are now discontinued and have been for many years....10 to 15+......my since of time is shot!

If I remember right, Royal Products was located in Denver Co. They had some beautiful scale kits, and some really good other stuff. One of the things that I use to use from them was colored Silron. It was a combination of silk and nylon that worked very well.

I have used some of those spinners in the distant past.   Like everyone says, Royal was big into scale R/C kits.  I always wanted the B-17 kit, myself, and do have a KI 61 Japanese Tony in their ".40" line.  Not 100% scale, but pretty good looking, all wood kits.  Great for Stand Off Scale!

A Japanese sounding company was selling them for a while, but I think they quit about 10 years ago.  Maramu or something.

A company is selling their plans and canopies/cowlings on ebay all the time.

I have a Royal .45 engine that I have yet to run which I bought from Dale Barry about 15 or more years ago.

Good quality from all I remember.

All the "Royal" kits were made in Japan...I had some of them as early as 1970
and last saw them readily available in the early 90's.  For R/C they were pretty
decent albiet a little heavy but they had some models that you couldn't get a kit for anywhere else...like a Cessna 310 twin...P-38...so on and so forth...they
had all the usual WWII fighters and some even came in 20...40...and 60 sizes.

I doubt you could have used the kit balsa for a control line plane but if you
were into scratch building the plans were easily good enough to build from.

They show up on the "bay" sometimes and are usually priced very high.

I still have the FW-190 built from the royal kit...flew well with a 90 FS.

They certainly made engines. Sort of like the Tower engines.

Their engines, the .40 and .45 were clones of the then OS FSR engines. The main difference was that the Royal engines were of the early Chinese clones and simply did not last. Broken rods, and bad bearings happened within 5 -15 hours of running time, or at least all the ones I ever saw did so. They were cheap and Royal sold many, however not many to those that had a first one.  

I built several Royal kits. They were a builders delight if you liked carving blocks. Royal was a big player in the '60s through '80s.  Like all the real modeling firms, electrics, arfs, and "great pains" have removed them all to history.

The company that made these was known as Marutaka and the Royal line was only a part of their extensive line. As to the quality of their wood their deluxe R/C kits were so well engineered that I built 2 of their L-19's without replacing a single item in either kit. The Royal line was an extension of the old KYO/TMHK etc line from the early 50's forward. The construction of these was archaic by the 70's and I guess that the kits simply wern't up to then contemporary standards. That is they were not shake and fly.
Great products and as has been noted gone, like so many other good things, to instant gratification.

 That sound Royal would not be quite in my head, so I just went out to check the barn and the kits there.
I have a PT-17, 73" span and a DC-3 over 80", I forgot to check that. So, There is some building to do. Just have to try to fit them in with the other 70 or so kits there.   There are about a dozen OLD time CL kits, several from the '40s.
