Anybody close to Thunder Tiger 4 U?
« on: August 08, 2009, 10:07:14 PM »
Mid-July, I got a big load of TT props for myself and various club members, and the TT4U website was up and running. We actually traded emails a few times, because they couldn't believe I was meaning to order 5 bags (6ea) of the 11x4.5's....thirty props.

But anyway, I tried to look at their website a few days ago, and again just now, and the site is down, kaput. I hope it's just a domain registration issue or one of those deals. With the economy being the way it is, I'm worried that they went under. They're in Calipornia someplace, but I didn't know where the city was. Bay area, I think.

It would be very comforting to find that they're still in biz. Was looking for props suitable for the Stalker .76RE ...something about 13x6 or 14x6. I have the 12.5 x 5.5, and will probably start with that, tho it seems like the ST G.51 isn't too unhappy with it.  #^ Steve

I have a 12 1/2 x 5 1/2 Bolly on one of my ST60's and the engine just loves it. Maybe I should try a TT on it. I also tried a carbon 3 blade 12 x 6 from Kaz. My motor hated it, inconsistant runs, couldn't set the needle right, wimpy power. Switched back to the Bolly and it returned to a good runner. Easy to set needle good break or solid 4 stoke if I wish. Motor pulls hard again and even sounds good.
So what are you building for the 76RE. What ever prompted you to buy that MEGA MOTOR. You have a lot of extra fuel you need to burn?????? LL~

They recently revamped the web site and except for the home page none of the other links you may have saved before work. I had the 11.3 X 5.5 bookmarked and had to find it all over again when I looked the other day.

I believe the 12.5 X 5.5 is every bit as good as the Bolly and the 11.3 X 5.5 is a pretty good Saito 40 prop. If you don't like the color they can be dyed black pretty easy.

I just went to the new site.  The only big difference I noted was the major increase of price on some of the engines.  36 Pro from 79.99 to 157.99.  Too bad, was an affordable carrier engine!

Seems like it might be the kiss of death for that engine, I know I wouldn't pay that price. I wonder if that is correct ?? If so Randy's Aero Tiger 36 will take a big hit.

I have sold both for many years, I have also flown both of them on a SV-11  and an Intrepid as well  as helping setup the 2 on another plane. I can tell you as good as the TT props are  the 12.5x5 props is not nearly as good as the 12.5x5.5  Bolly . The Bolly is stiffer, thinner, easier to turn and lighter

I think Bob may have meant the 11.3x6.5 for the Saito 40. I am running one and it works very well..... H^^

The link I was trying was for the propeller page, so after I clipped the url down to just ".com/" it worked fine. There's no propeller page anymore. Maybe they're trying to sell us on some of their other products?

They don't seem to stock the TT "rubber ducky" that Pete Peterson loves so much (they come in yellow, so they match his yellow planes!). LL~ I kinda like them, because they're cheaper than DuBro (which are hecho en China) and they're made in Taiwan. Maybe Randy Aero stocks them?

Greg...The Stalker .76RE is scheduled for this beastie. It's a Gerald Schamp revision of the Buso "Super Kestrel", and has a Saito .80 in it...not the newer .82. I just didn't want to mess with the .80. Anybody want to buy it? It has the bench running-in done...by Windy U. FWIW, the .76RE burns only 4 oz of FAI fuel, according to Norm Whittle. I'll be saving $ and fuel, and polluting the environment less than my Magnum .36 or .46LA.  HB~>   LL~

Just got 'ome from flying with Pete's Ferguson and Peterson. No balsa was broken. We flew at a parking lot of a new warehouse down in the valley, just across the fence from Hwy. 167. My first time to fly there...Peterson, too. I like it! C'mon down, Schultzie... HIHI%% Steve

Went to Tower Hobbies, the 36Pro is listed at $89.99.  Maybe TT isn't really interested in direct sales any more.

I'm betting it's a typo or transposition.. Look at the pricing on the 46 and 60.. Would imagine it will get noticed and fixed pretty quick.

Randy... Should have said "almost as good" but I was wrongfully putting price into the equation which is a consideration for some of us on a fixed income that most probably don't need to worry about.

I just received a confirmation on Bob's hunch. Per and E-mail from .TT - the pricing was set up wrong when they modified their web site. The person replying apologized and stated that TT is working on correcting their error. 8)
