I was too tired to walk all the way to the tent to snap a pic of the Olde Fart score sheet. But I watched and remember, how bout that, the place order. Skip Chernoff took 3rd, Al Buck placed 2nd, George Waters place 1st and Buzz Brodak was the Grand Champion flying a Ring Rat. Of special note this was the 1st time Buzz picked up a handle in 45 years ! I made a comment during the Pilots Meeting that the bar for Old Geezer is set too high. The Top Hat maneuver is said to be the hardest maneuver of the lot.

I'm going to agree "top hat" is a challenge. Just for the fun of it, when I was finished doing my pattern in profile on Monday, I did bow tie, inverted triangles, top hat and spot landing. Inverted triangles I do every flight, as I saw videos of others doing them to untwist lines years ago. Bow tie isn't that hard. Spot landing is convenient in practice.
The hard part of top hat is the last corner, which comes up pretty quick. You're diving at the ground at speed. Seems faster than a square, perhaps due to a square killing off more speed.

Junkyard wars result?

Peter,
Sorry, I didn't make it to the tent with the score for junkyard war before it was removed.

I flew the "new" pattern several times just for grins and I agree. Surprisingly the "Top Hat" is the most difficult. The reverse triangles are what I have used for years to unwrap lines and the Bow Tie is the first trim maneuver with flats. But difficulty is not the point, it's sticking out your tongue and giving the grim reaper the finger that makes me look forward to someday entering.
