There is...the Carolina Criterium. Went last October and it was a blast and a learning overload.

Where are you going to be staying? NC is a very wide state ,560 miles wide and some parts are slow moving. If you are near a interstate highway then getting to Huntersville is easy. Are you going to be near Charlotte or Winston Salem as there are CL flyers there.
As Shrug says Huntersville is a fun event.

Shame on you Howard! You left out all references to the Combat events. How could you??!! LL~ LL~ LL~

Don't pick on Howard, he's gotten old and now flies stunt. LL~ LL~ LL~ H^^ H^^

The posting from Howard was what he received for the Contest update in Stunt News, the listing was probably my mistake , not his.
We also have Combat and Carrier at both contest, the October contest is usually better attended than the May contest , but the may event grows each year. Both are starting to be more than we can get in with two days, Saturday reminds me of mid week at Brodak's, , 6 circles hoping all day, just too much to take in in one day .
Howard is a transplant from many Years in combat, I hear he has been doing pretty good in stunt lately H^^ CLP**

The meets at Huntersville are always excellent! I have been going to them for well over 20 years now. I have missed a few lately for health reasons but I plan on making BOTH this year! The local club (MCLS) is filled with nothing but great guys and they are a lot of fun to be around. Even if I cannot fly yet, I will attend! By this time I was hoping to be at least at the bottom levels of Expert, but things don't always work out like we wish they would. Plus we get people like Jim Lee, Charlie Reeves, The Barry boys (Dale and Derek), Tom Hampshire, Steve Fitton, John Tate, and lots of other "out of Towners", even Big Art and Jim Van Loo, plus our own Sparky have appeared! We mourn the loss of other regulars like Allen Brickhaus and Byron Barker, along with Willis Swindell. But, there are plenty of talented pilots to make things interesting at every meet! Y'all come on down and join in the fun!

I would be staying probably by Moorseville area...Lake Norman.

Sorry about leaving out the other events. Being lazy, I just copied the Stunt News entry from which I'd deleted other stuff.

Don Jenkins and myself fly weekly at the Huntersville field. We fly during the week and sometimes weekends. There is seldom any CL flyers there on the weekend unless there is a club meeting. You will need a field pass key and AMA card to fly with out a key member.

I am doing all I can to make it in the Fall. Hope to get to fly a bunch this Summer although we are losing our flying field. Such a nice site down there in Huntersville))))
