Any campgrounds near Brodak?
« on: June 01, 2022, 01:24:02 PM »
Are there any campgrounds near the Brodak site? My wife is coming with me for the week and she wants some quiet time (all day) without hearing model airplane engines.

Thanks, Matt

Matt - as far as I know, there is a campground in Dry Tavern, around 6 miles north of Carmichaels, on Rt 88.
Maybe you should call Sandy at Brodaks - she may have more info.

Just Google:   Campgrounds near Carmichaels, PA 15320

4  will pop up.

I did google maps to two of them but didn’t see any camping areas at the addresses given. One said closed. That’s when I decided to ask here.

Out of curiosity, I called this guy.  He has space and is about 12 miles from Brodak's.  Full hookups, $25/night, expects to have space.

That is one that I looked at but couldn’t see any sites on maps satellite view. I was going to give them a call in the morning though.
I was also hoping for a site with a lake or pond. Haven’t seen any of those yet.

The Brodak Compound has had a camping area available to participants for as long as the FlyIn has been going! It's been what is usually referred to as "Primitive" no hookups no water. Just space!

That was my original plan but then my wife said she didn’t want to listen to airplanes all day long so I started looking for a different campground.
Unfortunately the recent hike in gas prices has made me rethink this trip. The Brodak event was a stopping point on a longer trip to the White Mountains in NH and some travel through Maine. I just can’t justify this trip with gas prices now over $5/gallon.
I hate that I’m going to miss the fly-in but just too expensive at this time.
