Title: Antique Control Handle
Post by: Garf on September 03, 2008, 11:47:57 AM
I picked up a very unusual handle in my travels. Has anyone ever seen one like this? I never have.

That's a tool box handle.

I collect controline handles and reels, and have two or three of the handle that you've pictured. All of mine are not painted, and have no manufacturers marks on them. I think they were manufactured at the end of WW2 out of a surplus cast aluminum handle, and a manufactured crossbar. Note that this is a Hard Point Handle.

Very interesting....... looks like the hard point moves?

From looking at the holes it looks like the outside holes were used more then the others?

I'm pretty sure I remember having one of those in the late 50's or early 60's--prior to getting a Darwin handle that I still use.

My vote goes for "tool box handle".  ;D
