My cousin living in Las Vegas passed away at 2:30AM. Charles Fata had congested heart failure. He flew with the Las Vegas group for many years and work at one of the hobby Shops. Greg Fata ,Charles brother call me. He said he would keep me informed about the Funeral arrangements.
My prayers go out to His family and Brother and Sister.

Gordan, we can't begin to tell you how sad we are for losing another one of our brothers. I first met Charles at the Hobby People years ago, before I knew what control line was. I was actually sponsored by the local stores to do demo RC flights. Charles became one of the guys who would show me all the new products. He was up at the north store, but I still went up there often. We became friends through the hobby shop. Then when I learned about the control line flyers in Vegas, I started flying with them on the weekends. Then, one day soon after, here comes Charles with a CL plane! I had no idea he was already into CL. Obviously, he was a welcome surprise. He was definitely a big reason to go to the flying field and hang out. A wonderful person with a contagious laugh. He was always so happy to just be there, hanging out, flying, whatever we were doing. Our crew is smaller now, and Charles will be missed deeply.

I believe Reuben took that pic at the Votec school we used to fly at. I'm looking for a pic on my computer now. It was at the dirt lot. You, Charles and Dennis all laughing at me while I took the pic. If I can find it, it's a pretty dang good pic of the crew.

Dane, Thanks for the picture of Charles. Hear in SLC we called him Mike which is middle name. We had four Charles and it was getting a lot of confusion on which one they wanted. So I went by Gordan all my life. His dad was a Charles and our cousin. So we called him Chuck.

Thanks to those who posted and new Charles.

I spoke to Charles a week before he died and he said he was feeling better and making an improvement. I never expected to hear that he passed on. He was one of the really liked members of the Las Vegas Circle Burners. I first met him at Voteck school where that picture was taken of him holding his plane. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please let me know if there will be a funneral service in Las Vegas I like to attend.

We went flying today in Charles' memory. His girlfriend gave Joey some planes and asked that they me flown and enjoyed. So we did exactly that. These two planes belonged to Charles and we flew the covering off 'em!
We spent the day reminiscing of Charlie Philips and Charles Fata.

That's really cool. BUt one question. How were you able to fly in the IKEA parking lot. That is nice that they let you fly there.

Very nice.  Is that a Sterling Navion I see?  It's good to see young blood here, us old timers are thinning out too quickly.

I don't know. I was hoping someone might identify it. I stuck a veco 19 in it last night. It flys great!

I see. You were flying in Stealth mode.
That could be either a Dare or Richards Navion. I'm going to lean towards a Richards due to it's size.

Tony, if Larry's Navion was a copy of the Sterling kit, it should be the same - other than wing construction - as the Dare kit.  Bill Schmidt did the plan used with the Dare kit, and I offer copies of that in my eBay store.

Dane .This Navion is from a Richards kit. I had for gotten that i bought it and  that Charles ended up with it and built it.
The wing span i believe is 45in. and wing flaps were added to this design, and the fuselage is stretched with better moments with.
