« on: December 18, 2007, 09:14:19 AM »
Here's my Brodak Super Clown I'm going to cover the wings and stab-elevator with silk. I'm leaving the flaps stationary/ Just wanted a simple plane this time. Got to get it off the bench cause I think I'm getting a Oriental for Christmas.

Here's my Super Clown with some paint on it. Silk skirt on wings just like the old days. Actually "they" used scarfs more often. And I did get the Oriental for Christmas.

Wow Mike! Looks great!  It takes a confident man to put flowers on his plane.  I had a pink plane one time, but never flowers.  Looks like your going to have a fun little plane, please let us know how she flies.

Is that a Park repair stand that is holding the airplane.....

Not another bike head.  ::) Don't get any paint on it.   :)

I have a a folding one that I purchased from the Motorola team (really) when they went out of business.  I didn't have enough cash for the tour ridden Eddy Merx that was in my size......

I love teh silk job

The stand is a Minoura I couldn't aford the Park even thought they are made here in Minnesota. Yes guilty as charged another bike head but I'm down to 6 bikes right now. I'm not worried about paint on it.

I tried a scarf covered AA sr.some years back at the VSC. I overheard comments that it was airbrushed, some thought it was shelf paper. A rank amateur, I allowed a glow-starter to fall out of my pocket onto the wing, it just bounced off like a trampoline. Mr. Werwage, launching me, commented on the strength of the covering. This airplane, though warped horribly due to the continual shrinking of the dope, is still airworthy, although it is basically a taffeta bag filled with balsa splinters.
No silk scarf of my Mom's was ever safe when I needed to cover a wing in the good ol' days.

I only paid $50 for my park pro folder....  Euro used Direct from Jim Och.  Dura ace pedals $15.  Just missed out on the $100 pro roof rack deal. The best money on a bike part I have ever spent.

I am down to 4 bikes and about 10 sets of wheels... But I have to lose about 50ls to ride some of them (wheels).

Yea after using silk covering nothing else seems to stand up as well. But for speed I will use other coverings and I'm so disapointed. I don't know how many time I've said I'd never use iron on again. Here's another silk covered one.

Mike, the plane is looking good.  Hope it flies as well as it looks.  By the way the work area is looking good too.  Still too neat when compared to mine.  Have fun, DOC Holliday

in there you can pick out fuselages for a Hunt Mustang (redrawn to a P-51B) and a SV-31, Hunt Mustang and Grondal Nobler wings, and other odds and ends.  We had to reroute all the cable a couple months ago, and I had to put everything on the work table.  At least the cable expense was on the cable company and I didn't have to pay.......

Bill,

Trust me. Bite the bullet and do a thorough cleaning. You'll be glad you did. I mean, I cleaned mine up just in time to have a roof leak and a need to re-sheetrock the ceiling on one end and fix the roof. Had I not cleaned it up first, this project would be a real pain (as if it's not now). Hey, maybe cleaning up unbalanced the universe and caused the leak. Yikes!

That is a regulation size pool table with 3/8ths glass on top of it.  I cannot see the glass......  it's so bad I don't even want to go there!  I wouldn't even know where to start.

In the photo below just above the triangle you will see a water filter for an ice maker. It once broke in the middle of the nite and we though the running water sound was from the water softener cycling. But when it didn't stop early the next morn I went to investigate and found 1" of water on the floor and every thing on the work bench soaked. It looked funny with some 10-12 plans hanging on the cloese line out back. I still pull out a tool I haven't used in a while and it will be covered with rust and lime.

Hi Mike,

I had two floods recently.  One from the airconditioner freezing up and condensation pouring out for two days, the other from the condensate pump going bad!  Both times I didn't see it for about two days.  It is HOT here in the summer! LL~

I was right. There has to be some kind of reward for this workbench. In any case there seems to be quite a few who are proud of their messy workbench. Maybe a tube of woodfiller to take care of the divits. HB~> HB~> HB~> HB~>

I bet you would have a hard time finding a 4-40 tap on these benches. When mine gets this dirty I go out and buy one. It's faster. HB~> HB~> HB~>
