We had the best weather I have ever seen at a contest in Topeka yesterday for the Classic and P-40 contest. Just a picture perfect day. The Top Class guys did a super job of running things and a really good time was had by everyone. Ed Prohaska won classic, Ken Nash was 2nd, and I was 3rd. Bob Brookins put up a spectacular flight in P-40 for 1st place, Andrew Hathaway flew really well for 2nd, and I was 3rd. DO you see a pattern here? There really was a lot of good flying by everyone. Thanks goes to the Topeka crew for a great day.

I think your like me this year, not enough practice time. I should have skipped the second round in both events the way I flew. Thanks to all the TOPCLASS group for a great meet. DOC Holliday

And Thanks to all the TopCLass people who helped make the day a success!! The competitors deserve a lot of praise also because everyone was ready on time and the day went as smooth as silk on one of Jim Kraft's planes....!!! H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^

It was really about as good as it could get. Light breezes, not too hot, clear skies... They did a fantastic job getting the field ready. A larger crowd may have been nice but as it was we got done pretty quickly. Thanks again to the club.

Thanks for the pictures. Maybe I will get out of last in Classic one of these days. DOC Holliday

Bob-
Congrats! The repair job looks great. How do like the way it flys?
Don

Don; I don't think Bob gets on here, but I can tell you it fly's pretty well and looks so cool in the air. Tell him you want it back. LL~ LL~. I launched it for him on both flights and I think it maybe had some engine issues. Maybe just to rich or to lean.

Jim-
I built the Vega for VSC because no one else had to my knowledge. Had some doubts about how it would fly due to the small stab/elevator area but it turned out to be a really nice handling airplane. I lost it at Tulsa when I tried to run an inverted OS 40 a bit too slow (rich needle setting). It just flat shut off right after pulling the nose up for the wingover. I think it is sorta like the Fox burp. The positive G's toss a big slug of fuel mixture into the head and it floods off. Had a RO-Jett 40 do the same thing, I don't try to go below about 9800 anymore! These flat piston engines like to run fast.

Hey Don; I agree with that. Seems the flat top engines do need to run a bit faster. On the other hand my McCoy RH 40 runs a steady slow 4 stroke just beeping in manuevers to a 2. That with an APC 12-6 cut to 11. Great motor for a 36 oz. Magician.

That 'Mighty Mac' sounded Great!!! #^ #^ just rumbled around... I think Jim put a bit of 'magic' in there... H^^ H^^
