WE changed our strategy and we're working at her house now. Hard not having my shop because I have to go back to when I built on a little flip top desk in the corner with a nail to make holes with!!! hahah Actually, working like this might be a better experience for her, not having all the equipment she'll have to learn from the ground up.

Really Cool! My daughter just asked if I would help her finish her Akromaster during the Christmas break. %^@ HH%%

She's already spoiled, those are laser cut ribs! ;D
Just kidding, it's great to see someone her age at the building table. y1

Good point but she'll still have to use a razor saw and a hand drill etc, not gonna take the scroll saw, drill press etc over there!

That is great that she is actually trying.

Great job Randy. Looking forward to flight reports this spring. Mike

Hi Randy,
Those photos show some real concentration; to have that there must be a serious interest in the subject. Good for both of you. She is a cutie, I hope she continues for a long while.

Thanks to the 5 of you out of the 262 that looked who took time to make a comment here. I didn't post this to blow my own horn, I posted it expecting to see lots of support I could show her.

I think we all know that and we are looking forward to seeing what Angela does with her new plane.
Angela- keep up the hard work, I'll be checking back to see your progress. And can't wait to see your maiden flight video!!!!!
-
This is my Joie with Watermelon. She painted and named it and she has flown it too. Granddaughters are a lot of fun. Angela is doing great work, keep the pictures coming. It's not just guys that fly airplanes.
-
Thanks Duke & Russell. Joie looks very happy there. Angela's very eager and interested, seems she like building the best!!! She's looking forward to learning the Beginner pattern and competing. She has Tutor short kit in the wings for more advanced flying. She is a very intent builder, totally focused and wanting to do a good job.
YAY JOIE!!!!!!!

Bah, Humbug...Kids should not be allowed to build model airplanes...
LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~
What you and Angela are doing is great Randy. I wish i had a grand daughter that wasn't 2000 miles away that wanted to build an airplane.
Tell Angela I think She's terriffic!

My daughter has been working on and off, mostly off, on an Akromaster. She's started June 2012. HB~>
Good news, she asked if I would help her finish it this Christmas break. ;D
-
Duke, what power for your family Akromaster?
-
Randy-
'just saw your post. This is really wonderful, especially her interest in building. I hope she enjoys it and finds it fulfilling - AND is not discouraged too much by crashes. To see a young person, especially female, take to building planes is a great encouragement to this former teacher too! She has a great role model.

Thanks all, we hope to make great progress over the Christmas break. I'll be off work and she'll be out of school. She's been working on the cap strips and we have the nose all glued up. This is where she learns to use a hand drill hehehe. Soon it should start looking like an airplane!
Serge, last summer she crashed my Skyray, she felt so bad. But I told her that what its for and made sure I repaired it quickly. We flew it again the next day and she understands better now. Of course flying one she built herself will be the next hurtle but I keep telling her its all part of the process and how many models I crashed learning the pattern. We'll probably use the Skyray to get her through loops and inverted flight then transition to her Lightening Streak to learn the Beginner pattern.
-
Angela, that looks a LOT better than my first builds!! Keep up the good work, Merry Christmas!!
-
Looking good Angela!!!
Lighting Streak sounds fun and fast! #^
Post up pictures after Christmas. Maybe Santa will bring you another kit?
-
Way to go Angie! The Lightning Streak is a great flying bird. 8)
Hope to see you fly it at the contest next August, or at the cookout that Saturday night of the contest weekend.
(way to go Randy too! CLP** )
