I use digital fish scales to see what ball park I'm in. I'm no pro but they are consistant.

I have a postal scale from Harbor Freight that seems pretty accurate.

Doc is right. Harbor Freight has digital scales for not a ton of money.

Star-Frit (don't laugh) has a decent one at a good price.  I have one in my shop and my wife has one in the kitchen.  I got them both on sale at different times.  I think it was about $11 for the kitchen one then $15 a couple of years later for the shop.  The trick is to find them on sale.  You need to go on a quest to all the kinds of stores that handle Star-Frit.

The one at Harbor Freight will measure in pounds  and tenths thus you can see the weight and move the decimal point to the right and give you the correct pounds to pull during a pull test.  No chart is needed.

I have one which I got off of Ebay with free shipping. Seems to be pretty accurate when I just now weighed a plane and it was within .01 of a oz compared to my Harbor Freight digital.

The price is right!
