Title: And the February 2008 "Dumb ARF of the Day" award goes to...?
Post by: Andrew Borgogna on February 28, 2008, 09:30:57 AM
You guessed it I won it. I finally started to get serious about getting my Score finished.  As I always have done in the past with ARFs I hinge all the control surfaces first.  Well guess what, if you glue in the elevator hinges you can't install the assembly into the fuselage.  This would have been obvious if I had just read the instructions but heck who reads instructions with ARFs duh.  n~

No big thing a little body and fender work will solve the problem, guess I should read the instructions for the rest of the build. ;D

Hey Andrew, I think it goes something like this:

The Claim: "Its so easy a 8 year old and do it!"

The Reality: can never find an 8 yo around when I need HELP!  b1

Thanks for the funny story!

You can cut the pinned hinges off and install monokote hinges , they work well .

And to think I have been told I think like a caveman, I guess she is wrong. y1

That's Andy, anything to get attention.  By the way I can remember kits that did not even have instructions.  Like when my brother put the wing in the fuse and had it flipped/flopped,  heavy panel goes to the outboard.  DOC Holliday

Oh well the problem was solved  the elevator is installed, and all is good in the universe again.  By the way what do you mean waiting for flying season to start, I didn't know it had stopped. 8)

On the account of waking up this morning and having another 3-5 inches of "Partly Cloudy" to shovel...   :P

Andy, besides local weather being in the 20's with wind. it seems I have wised up quite a bit  in the last few years(as far as flying weather).  See ya in Tuscon.  DOC Holliday

Doc
I look forward to seeing you as well in Tucson.  Larry Renger and I will be arriving on Sunday, if we get there early enough we will head to the flying site and get some practice in.  Otherwise my friend, first beer is most definetly on me.
Andy :)

Andy,

I think the way you did it is best all the way around, anyway, since I like to mount the control horn solidly to the stab TE.  So I still have to cut a slot, or in some other way compensate for that.

To all don't worry if you don't see me at the field before Tuesday, may be Wednesday morning as making a trip to Texas to my favorite sister-in-law for the tax thing again.  Later,  DOC Holliday
