An unusual handle

       This was in a box of lines and handles that belonged to the late Dick Woolsey. It doesn't show well in the photo, but thats multifaceted, sharp(!), construction grade sand imbedded in the finish! Anyone know of it's origins? Is it a joke? Dick brought a lot of C/L stuff back from his Stunt travels so I doubt he made it.

       The handle itself seems to be well thought out. It's light and has subtle curves and cutaways in just the right places for a great fit to my hand. I'm replacing a broken cable with one from a large EZ Just.

       Thought about keeping it as a novelty, but it feels so comfortable that I will put it into service, without the sand!

Do yourself a favor, leave the sand. It's there for a reason. This style of handle is still being made.

Its for anti-slip when your hands are oily.........
I've done that with a couple of my handles but; if you fly a lot you'll get a raw hand. Use a real fine sand......

 I forget who makes that handle but I had a few of them and didn't care for them, just too big and heavy for my taste. I suspect that's why you rarely see them at the field. I ended up just giving the ones I had away. The sand is for better grip and would have been added by the owner on this one.

I think that is the handle that Eric at rsm sells.
They come bare wood I think.
