Now that I'm getting to the point in my career that I have enough Soldiers under my charge that I could put together a football team, allot of business gets handled via cell phone (still trying to figure out how the Army got along without it.) Smart phones are getting to the point where voice commands can call numbers, send texts or emails, and get directions. May have to start paying Siri for her services soon (i have an iPhone)
What I absolutely DO NOT like is the use of touchscreen technology in cars. I love touchscreens--you can do allot with them. However, who here can navigate their car radio or climate control by feel? Thats why car designers shape all the knobs and buttons differently. People can use them based off of feel and not have to take their eyes off the road. I love my iPod touch when I first got it...until I tried using it in the car. I have since installed a stereo deck that has a USB port, and I can control the iPod using real buttons.
Allot of newer cars now have digital displays and navigation systems with touchscreen interfaces. Bad idea....
When I was in the USAF in the mid 80's, anyone of importance had a "Brick" (two-way radio). Us Green fatiqued Ramp Rats had pagers for any on-call duty.
