Happens more often than you think. As an Airline Mechanic for 30+ yrs I've had to repair the damage. Looks like someone took an arc welder and ran down the side of the fuse. striking it every foot or so. The worst is an exploded trailing edge tip, most are arc spots. Some can be burnished, others plugged with rivets. Static discharge wicks work "most of the time".

I read they are designed to withstand these strikes..... its still scarey!
