Is there any differences between the AMA & UHP Imitation plans?
Thnx,
Scott

Hello Scott,
I am not sure if there is any difference. Steve, UHP owner, is out of town right now for work. He should be back in a week or so and will answer question about it then.
Thanks

Scott: there is no difference as far as wing span, nose moment, tail moment, wing root and tip, ribs, etc. The differences that exist come from the fact that I redrew the plans for how the laser would see them. The laser we used had a 12 x 24 bed (pretty common) and thus, all the parts are designed to fit in this space. Otherwise, there is no difference in the overall dimensions.

Here is my Imitation as from AMA plans. It flew well for me.

That's a sharp looking Imitation, Allen!
What did you power it with?
Thanks

Had an ST 46 and a rear exhaust muffled OS 40vf on it. With the system of the firewall construction and use of R/C motor mounts, you can put almost anything on it.

Thanks, Allen. I have a set of foam cores for the wings and stab/elev. that were cut back when the original article was written.
What type of "muffler" did you use on the .40VF?? And how did you "run" it?
Thanks!

The firewall/RC mount system is great for trying different powerplants. Mine has
had an OS LA 46, a Saito 40, and is now electric powered.

I used a header and capped it off at the end with a wooden dowel slathered with slow drying epoxy and force fit into the end of the header. Then I put two small screws in from the opposite sides of the wooden plug to further hold it in place. Then I drill holes in the bottom end of the header like a tongue muffle would have. Hope this helps. Even included a pressure plug for uniflow pressure to the tank.

Local good guy Paul Pomposo flew his Imitation with a piped 40VF for many years with great success.

Thanks for the description, Allen! We have kept a few of our .40VFs since we had such good luck with them. I know I could put a pipe on it like Brett shows, but the "header muffler" sounds interesting.
