In another thread it came up that it would be nice if people would report on what is going on at the Nats.

If you have a photo, comment or thought - but don't want a whole thread for you only - please go ahead and post.

I'm half the Earth away myself, so cannot contribute with photos or stories. I'll just sit back and appreciate whatever gets posted.

Took a shot on the scale circle. A Ercoupe. Got too breezy for fun so retired to pavilion for maintenance work on the planes.

Caught the vendor coming to check out his trailer and got him to move it so the tabulation trailer can go in. This trailer will be here and will have pop, coffee, ice cream and snacks in machines. Bring quarters. No sign of the Boy Scouts yet.

The finish on the Ercouple looks pretty darn good. Bare aluminum is the toughest thing there is to reproduce.

Actually, locks are not needed. Just a stick in the slide mechanism does the trick.

It might actually make sense to combine the three (3) threads with short notes about the 2013 Nats. Any moderators?

Time to retract maingear and call for crash landing. I think Claude McCullough did it in RC one year in front of Navy Judges and got scored for it. His trophy arrived after he got back home.

Not sure but I'll try to find out. It's Frank Beatty's. Had a hard nose-over yesterday.

I talked to Frank. He said it was a Rose but heavily modified by a man named Bork so he calls it a Bork Parakeet.

An update on David's plane. A set screw in the nose wheel assembly came loose but was still in the hole! How is that for luck? He said he just slid the assembly back in and tightened the set screw.

I think I would have applied some locktite, if I had any available.

Hi Doc,

I remember in 1996 at Muncie when only one of Jack Sheeks Hellcat LG would come down. He tried a few laps to get the other one down then yelled out "Crash Landing"! A bit of humor to take the edge off.
