AMA in there inimitable wisdom is now co-sponsoring, along with Boeing the GoFly competition. The goal is a "safe", quiet person carrying (I guess it's not PC to say man carrying ) personal flying thingy that has a 20 mile range.  I wonder what's in the water in Muncie?  This from the same bunch that are courting drone pilots. (How's that working out for you, AMA?). I tried to leave a courteous dissenting viewpoint but looks like it didn't make it. Also on AMA's homepage there is a statement about FAA registration is likely to return. Wasn't there a lengthy article in MA on how well AMA represents our interests wit the Feds?  Maybe it's just me...

I left a comment "How is this model aviation?"

Not sure if they posted it.  Not worth the effort to check...

Read down further, not for CL.

Q: Do only drones and multirotor operators need to register?
A: No. Anyone who flies a model that is over 0.55 lbs (or 250 grams) and uses a ground-control system with a communications link, such as an RC transmitter, is required to register. If you exclusively fly models under .55 pounds, indoors, CL, or FF - you do not need to register.
