After I read the AMA "reminder" (this is actually old news), I thought I might write to the AMA and point out to them that none of the visiting Canadians who were coming south to fly control line would need to comply with the FAA knowledge test or register their planes. This, since the AMA claims that control line planes are not drones, not remotely controlled by RF link, and have no "ground station" and therefore exempt from those regulations. Even the FAA appears to "interpret" things this way when it reduces their workload; but perhaps refuses to enshrine this in writing--best done in an Advisory Circular--no doubt because it might codify a lesser mandate than what congress insisted on. However, for insurance and contest purposes, our Canadian friends would still need either the temporary or the annual AMA license.
On the other hand, I decided that poking at a wounded dog is generally self-destructive and can often damage a perfectly good stick....
