AMA's June 2011 Model Aviation
« on: May 17, 2011, 11:44:58 AM »
The June issue of AMA's Model Aviation is probably the best ever that I can recall.  Great  layout and lots of information between front and back covers.

It takes some time and attention to read all that is in there. I spent a couple hours last evening and will do more within the week. It is a great resource.

Of course that is what a subsidized magazine should be, and they did yeoman's service on this one. Lot's of good stuff.

In the midst of all the "MA Bashing", I agree that the magazine sometimes provides some good information for stunt flyers.  I give them credit for tweaking my interest in electrics, to where I now have a decent-flying electric stunter.

My only complaint: they should allow Bob Hunt more column space.

For a magazine that tries to cater to all the facets of modeling I think they do great.  If stunt is all you want, go get Stunt News.  The other facets of control line have their publications also.   Control Line World is trying to cater to all facets of control line also.  Flying Models is still my favorite. Agreed ...... assuming you're crazy about RC, foam and electrics.

Other than that ... ???

Nice magazine yes, but basically worthless to C/L enthusiasts. But we already know that. D>K

Wish AMA had a "no magazine" option.

To bad we have to have this almost useless magazine come to us. They must make a good profit with it as it is always on time and has many pages. Lots of ads and useless info most of the time. Back in the day when I never flew in contests I enjoyed and would not be with out membership in AMA this was because of the magazine. Now because of my wish to fly contests I am forced to belong to AMA. No wonder I resent the AMA forcing this almost worthless monthly item on me. But the rewards are not there anymore. In the day it was great. To bad.

I don't understand how you guys can talk about AMAs' rag this.  Model Aviation mag
is arguably one of the very best catalogs, almost rivals RCM and those pesky electric
throwaways. I very much look forward to getting it from the mailbox and directly
into the round file with all the rest of......RJ

Model Aviation has become not much more than an ARF catalog, speaking of which I was in the Jackson MS hobbytown a couple of months age and could not find a kit of any kind. I asked one of the employees if they had any kits and the reply was that nobody builds kits anymore. I used to fly RC pattern and now I have no intrest in RC at all because of what it has become. I hope CL never goes down this road. This is SAD indeed
