I'd go with the Fox 35 on the Smoothie an L&J or a Randy Smith prepared one would be extra $$ but worth it.

Russ, I would definetly go with a Fox .35 vs. a .25. As for the good, I'm a die hard Fox .35 kinda person. The engine is going to require a lot more break in  than the OS. I don't use the stock mufflers as I find them too restrictive. A Randy Smith tongue muffler will make a big improvement. I personally open the holes up in them. I've had good success rates with the newer Fox's the 50th & 60th versions as they didn't require as much break in as others I had. The needle valve assemblies leave a lot to be desired but they work if your patient with them. This is an easy remedy to fix and others will work better. I'm not familiar with the newer Fox .25's so I will not comment on them as I've never had the need for one. Ken

As stated go with the Fox .35 Stunt.  It will take time to break in.  I usually run mine on the bench until it doesn't get tight when the fuel line is momentarily pinched.  Use 9X6 for breakin.  Then when you put it in the air use 10-6 or 10-5.  Make sure there is castor oil in the fuel also.  Also remember not to lean it out like an OS.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

The Dare Smoothie profile is very light thanks to good wood. At least mine was. Didn't need a Fox 35 on it and I personally wouldn't want the vibration fuel feed, burps, lousy needle valve etc problems with a stock Fox. I used a 25 with very good results. Simply offering another point of view but use the Fox if you feel the need for nostalgia.

Sure a Fox 35 Stunt will vibrate if not broken in properly.  DOC Holliday

I love my foxes...I have won several contests at my level (intermediate) with a box stock .35 on
my Smoothie.  Now flying a Nobler with the same motor.  With the motor inverted in the plane it
does not have the "burp".  It has the stock needle and that's fine for what I put it thru.  Best
part is I have a boxfull of them so i'll never run out of motors.

I agree with Doc about the break in too...plus my props are always balanced...I really don't have
vibration problems.

I would DEFINITELY go with one of Rabdy's NVA on any of the Fox .35, stock or reworked.  IMHO, they are better than the ST that everyone went to.  The cone locks the needle with no wrenches needed, plus they are made to the same OD as the stock Fox!  ;D
