Almost flying season...
« on: April 01, 2018, 02:18:53 PM »
While the Norfolk guys have been flying all winter, those of us in Northern Virginia have been waiting out the cold weather (and blustery winds.)  But at last it looks like we're going to start flying.  Next Saturday is our season kick-off.

A couple of us went down to do some early field prep (and then some flying.)  Mark had a couple of new Half-As to try out.  I had my Chubby's Checker.

That is great.  Some get to fly year round while others of us fly when ever the weather co-operates.   I got another flight in yesterday and the MIG says it was almost too windy.   Nothing like doing loops and 8s from take off and begging the engine to use up the fuel fast.  Once I landed I loaded up and headed for home.   H^^

What's fun is when the wind comes up and you're doing your hor. sq. eights and suddenly you get all kinds of acceleration on the bottom legs.  Same with the vertical eight - you start tapping your toe and whistling tunes waiting for it to climb to the top and then wonder if you'll break mach 1 on the way down...
Talk about knocking the rust off!
