Hi Gil,

Personally I do not suffer from an epoxy allergy, but a great friend does.  For over 30 years!  He gets an AWFUL rash with any contact with epoxy, even the sanding dust....... anywhere it touches him.

I have respiratory issues.  Runny nose and scratchy throat, especially with sanding dust.  I always wear a mask when using the stuff.  Not all epoxy's seem to effect me, just some...(typically the ones I have a lot of!!!)
Nothing real serious so far, but I'm careful because it's likely to get worse with repetition.

No allergies to glues but I have gone to Elmers and I don't have the problems that CA glues typically present.  I, like Randy, have serious respiratory issues with balsa dust.  It burns my eyes and gives me a sore throat and symptoms of a bad head cold.  I have to wear a mask now when sanding.

Allergies are weird!  As a kid I could roll around in poison ivy, etc., with no reaction.  Now, my eyes burn, I sneeze a lot, etc., etc..   Don't know how much longer it will take for me to begin showing symptoms from the chemicals we use in building/finishing.  If that happens I will just be totally out of luck!   Guy's I'm not sure if it is an allergic reaction to epoxy, but I broke out in a rash on my "sit down part" and I sure do hope that this isn't the reason>
Went to the "sawbones" and have an ointment and antibiotic that seems to be working, sure hope that it does not return!!!
  Thanks for the "advice"..

I don't have a problem with epoxies, at least not yet.  I have, however, become allergic to CA's.  They make my head and nose plug up as if filled with concrete.  It takes about three days before I can breathe normally again.

Life is simple. Eat. Sleep. Fly!

Well I usualy itch in between my fingers after sanding fibreglas with resin.   Also I can't beleive I used to be a grease monkey with oil changes, lube jobs and greasing bearings.   Now if H^^ I don't wash up with soapy water, my hands start itching and I get little blisters all over my fingers.

For all you guys with allergies, maybe you should find a really good allergist and get on a program. All my life was a bad thing with allergies of what I don't really know. I do remember what it a nightmare they were when at 35,000 to 45,000 ft. on combat pressurization (2.8 psi differential) with an O-2 mask on and the nose was stopped up. maybe even some bleeding and when coming down it felt the ears were going to pop. One can only blow so much back up the Eustachian tube. Some bad days. That was well over 40 years ago. It seemed for years that everything got to me, humidity in the summer, lack of humidity in the winter, glues, paint, whatever. It was really a family trait from my father's side.

After all these many years, some 3 years ago my nose kept bleeding, and other problems, I found a good more like GREAT allergist here in Humble TX. A Dr. Bhat. It took a year to get a true adjustment to be actually happening. It was medicine and weekly shots. Now I take some medicine if I'm away and can't get a shot every couple weeks, but life is truly different the last couple years.

Here is the first thing he did for me to get a quick relief. He said and I followed and still do now and then if the need is there: An allergy something gets into your nose and it stops up. You use an antihistamine and it simply swells up the sinuses for a short while. Take that bottle of antihistamine and pour it out. Then fill the bottle with water, and a good amount of SALT, regular old kitchen salt, and mix it up. When you get symptoms, wash that nose out well with the salt-water. It cleans the channels and stops the reaction to whatever you are allergic to. It will not cure your body allergy but it sure does stop the problem that is happening and doesn't hurt your body.
Now when I am painting, using CA, or oak, pine and/or maple is in the air, or my big black cat is around, I shoot the salt water. It really works and fairly quick.

So make the modeling and living better. Salt water is very cheap and it works.  y1
