Phil, l've had some similar experiences. My hands break out terribly especially as were nearing the fall. I get severe cracking and scaling in the middle of my palms and also fingertips. Last year was truly the worst averaging a box of band aids a week . My occupation has a lot to do with it but the hobby surely contributes. Its very difficult to nail down an exact source. Doctors have told me the only way to ward off a break out is to not expose yourself AT ALL. We both no this is quite hard to do and surely doesn't make the experience enjoyable. I will add that the exposure to the alcohol is probably more of the problem than the other. I have to use hand creams that don't contain any version of alcohols. Once the damage is done and the healing begins its this critical stage as to not expose your skin to harsher chemicals, glues, epoxies and also paints. This prolongs the healing and the whole cycle starts over again. It seems as if they never heal. One thing to also beware of is the type of glove your using. Sometimes, certain gloves can be just as much of a contributor of problems as well. I'm not saying to not wear them, its good that your cautious in protecting just to experiment with some others. Ken
